all finished :yahoo: ...polished up and put back together and running great. went for a blast down the knowsley bypass and had a bit of a scare .the back end went a bit squirrely in 5th.so i went to the m57 and ran 9 psi ...this bike rocks out with its cock out...in 6th gear at 10 tho doin around 160 it pulls like a freakin freight train :cloud9: ..it feels like the big bang r1 i borrowed from mmc in 3rd only mine pulls from 7 thou to the limiter and the mmc r1 falls on its arse at 10 thou.. so its back to the dyno when i get a day off..sure there is more power to be had with a good tune View attachment 1297 View attachment 1298 View attachment 1299 View attachment 1299
it has gone a bit quiet in work so i can take a day off next week to get the bike on the dyno..glad i didnt go sooner cos there has been a problem with the wastegate..went for a ride on tuesday and the usual 4th gear wheelie caught me out...the bike whent upright in a split second,sh*t myself and nearly came off the back.i just put it down to a bump in the road and the quick action throttle and decided to take it easy. on the way home i noticed the boost gauge showing 15 psi whilst belting it on the motorway..that explained the violent wheelie and i was lucky not to blow a head gasket or worse..just shows how much abuse these engines can take and stay in one piece.turns out the wastegate had come loose and crushed the actuator hose efectivley turning it off resulting in massive over boost ...danger... while the fairing was off i decided to retard the ignition just to give a bit of safety margin when it makes max torque.also fitted a hks dump valve for no reason other than it gives that brilliant noise when you drop the throttle http://youtu.be/CJlR_zIwmiE View attachment 1303 View attachment 1304
Mate i have just been watching vids of these again i really can not wait to see this wheelie machine go
think this sounds better than the hks and should give you a bit more street cred http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbNxugO-uf0
 had to cancel the dyno that was booked for monday the 5th...bought a new van for work and the insurance was a grand. i will rebook when funds alow....robbing bastards!!!!!!!!!!!
ey m8 your eyes would be popping out your head where i was last week.... scm turbomotive & cummins, who used to be holsett turbos. rack upon rack of all manner of blowers, small, big & bleedin mahoosive!! no cameras allowed though sorry
how did you get in there then..good job i wasnt there ,i get slightly arroused at any thing turbo related.. exhaust gases go into the turbine ,witchcraft happens and you go faster..love it
lol that would fit nice on my ped have you heard of the sacrificial cylinder mod..... basically you sacrifice the power of one cylinder of the engine and pipe the inlet to the airbox and the exhaust to the throttle body manifold.... gives you a theoretical boost of 10:1 depending on the compression ratio of the cylinder, which equates to 154psi, with the volume of compressed air split between the remaining cyinders :O apparently it has been done a lot on ducati & harley engined drag bikes.... absolutely no lag, linear boost blah blah blah...
cos dan at autosport north couldnt fit us in for a custom map and power run till the new year i took the r1 to motrac in ellsmere port.. nothin personal dan its just that there was no way i would still have the money after chrimbo so it was now or never . steve at motrac realy knows his sh*t an d sorted the fuelin good and propper .anyway it didnt quite reach the 230 bhp i was hoping for but it made more than enough to blow my socks off..it could have made about another 20 ponies but the fuel regulator cant deal with more than 9 psi... and the resilts are........... still superb results m8 i'd be made up with that lol!!! better to have a reliable 200+ bike imo than try to wring the most out of it & have it fail on you.
yeah mate i am made up with the results.still dont know what the 217 bhp feels like cos i rode home in the rain and it was impossible to open it up.and your right if its too highly strung then the engine probably wouldnt last so a happy medium is key...bring on the sprin g or even just a few dry days :yahoo:
You've pretty much achieved a 1BHP Per Kilo ratio... That's spectacular! By comparison, my YBR achieves a blistering 0.07BHP Per Kilo, and the 'Cat gets 0.46BHP per Kilo. Good job, sir!
Glad to hear you are happy with the result Ned. Like I say, next step is to sort that fuel reg and I think we can find even more GeeGees
welcome to the forum steve and thanks again for blessing my bike with your tunung skills... like we discussed the regulator i have can have the rate of gain turned right down to 1:1 and the base pressure could be turned up so we could then map for 12 or 13 psi without reaching the regulators useable limit which would probably give another 30 or so ponies...however ther is a downside to this plan .with the current setup.i can lower the boost if needed and maintain a reasonable degree or accuracy of fueling because of the fuel pressure ramps up and down with boost ..if i go for say 12 psi then i am stuck with that map for that boost setting...unless i get a multi function hub for the pc 3 and get a map switch gizmo..... for now i can say my project is finnished but in the future there will be improvements and more horsepower
