thought they were meant to be thirsty! i usually only get 140 miles to the fuel light on the R1.

ive been secretly looking at a few on pistonheads. feel the need for a twin. was considering trading the R1 in against a tuono. but might keep that and swap the cbr for a vtr. hmmmm.

tbh it was never like that til after id fitted bmc filter, dynojetted it & changed the cams...
it's doing a ton at 5.5k on just a whiff of throttle lol so i think thats what's made the difference.
i may have accidentally slightly exceeded the national speed limit (obviously i would never contemplate doubling it lol) once or twice today but most was bimbling round 60 - 70 like you do.
if it stays like that i'll be well happy

lee, there was a cracker sold the other day with all the mods, gixxer usd front end etc, went for 900 notes.
if i hear of any more good ones i'll let you know.
beltin machines. have a go of mine next time we meet bud .. a lot different than yours lol!!

do you know why it doesnt have any decals on it? wondered if it had been painted again at some point?

the later model just has a wing on the tank m8... i sure it says vtr on the fairing as well... i'll ask him for a clearer pic.
theres no tail piece decal on the newer ones.
go have a look at it, he's only down the road lol.

some on the vtr site got over 70k and know of one lad done 160,ooo on his without a rebuild!
if it's totally standard it will need the tensioners and r/r changing, just to be sure... theyre the only real flaws with the bike.
one of the members is doing ace manual tensioners £40 a pair so no biggy.

it just has the honda wing.
it had the fairing decal on when he got it but he didnt like it so peeled it off.
    (they just stick on.)
this is how it was when he got it 3mth ago...

I couldnt decide whether to go for black or white on my zxr, but looking at your bike has made the decision to go white. It looks really nice, the white with contrasting black is proper cool. Its a credit to you.

cheers matey :) i like it. definately gets noticed as well, it's brilliant when people think it's a plod coming up behind them & they move over for you :lol
secret is, stay just far enough back so they're not quite sure.
i put a blue led in the daylamp as well

done about 500 miles on it so far [IMG]

(up on the fid yesterday with a couple of chums - went to a mates pub in swanwick for a ride.
that's a white car in the background so you can see the difference in shade - if you are going for white you really need to get a pure white with blue base, they look dazzling!)

ive seen a zx7 in white and they do look stunning especially with powder coated frame in black.
be warned though, white has got to be the hardest colour to spray lol, you see every flaw!
and you need to clean it after every ride cos they pick up flies and brake dust on the wheels.

Paint is the least of my worries at the moment! I may even get it done by someone else while I concentrate on the rest of the bike, I have made a load of stuff ready to be anodised at the end of May nad will then get it to a rolling chasis and start on the engine.
I had a go on my mates vtr about 10 years ago, I had a gsxr 750 wx at the time and when I got onto the vtr I couldnt get on with it not having a noticable power band. After riding 2 strokes and in line 4s I am used to the power being at the top end and although the VTR was deceptively quick (I was doing about 140),it certainly didnt feel that quick and it kind of put me off of twins (only twin bikes, twin sisters are another matter!) I think I will have to try one again and see how I get on with them.

i put some hrc development cams in mine and fitted some vacuum relief valves and there most definately is a power band lol, between 7k & limiter it is an animal!!!! still rides like a gent round town but open it up and it's bonkers lol , nothing like a standard vtr :D

with the lightened flywheel & vac valves there's hardly any engine braking and it feels more like a 2 stroke to ride than a vee twin. i love it lol!

get this though - i got the cams (delivered) for £70!!! brand new, never fitted!!! they came off a belgian wsb test mechanic who'd had them for years and never got round to trying them, then got his bike pinched.
you can see the difference in profiles in the garage mods thing.

    WIN [IMG]

know what you mean about deceptive.... this one (on a private road o/c) goes off the clock quite easily! [IMG]

I have never played with 4 stroke bike engines, I have always found that they have enough oomph, but I must admit I am tempted to get a L model engine for the zxr and play with it a bit. I enjoy playing with the 2 strokes, I find them much easier to work on.
My brother had an sp2 and he loved that and he has a similiar taste in bikes to me, so maybe I will have to give twins another go at some point. I felt the same way about V4s, it seems I have been blinded by riding in lines fours or two srtoke V twins for too long!

i'll have a spare L3 engine shortly mate when ive fitted my new one. its done just under 30k and only needs shims doing & cct.
4 strokes are a doddle to work on once theyre on the bench.... it's just that the performance parts cost £ whereas on a 2t you can get away with a set of rifle files lol!

yesterday i had a play with the needle settings on the storm to try & cure a hiccup at 3.5k but made it worse lol.... so ive just put it all back together and had a quick run round the block and it is sooooooo much better lol - took off round a left hander and the yokes nearly smashed me face in lol, wasnt expecting that! [IMG]

i lowered the needles one notch yesterday and it felt like it was leaning out too much so i just raised them 2 & fk me it's sweet! [IMG]

I may be interested in the engine if you would like to sell it. Let me know when you have the new one fitted.
