took long enough to get back round to it.... been distracted a bit with having the kwak to ride & doing the scooter etc, but i miss it too much so it's been an intensive few days to get it finished for weekend. so a bit of a preview. just got to spray the front wheel, yokes and fork legs then fit the exhaust, seat & fairing. compared to last year it looks very bright & shiny IT'S DAZZLING IN THE SUNLIGHT! no excuse for not keeping it clean now. got all the decals as well apart from an nwb sticker... keeping it very basic though - dont want it bladdered with stickers like last time.
just had to order some more rubber trim and got a bit carried away looking at carbon... bought tank pad, yoke protector, fuel filler protector, stomp grips, headlight cover... its only cos i got a female postie & she's fit. i reckon she's a bit kinky as well.... i answered the door today with rubber gloves on & her eyes lit up! :boff:
bloody hell mate thats looking sweet as hhahaha probs mate they all are these girls now adays :icecream:
yeh mate, just sprayed the front wheel & im having a brew then crack on with get the forks off... my fault for putting it away in november without cleaning it. lots of salt damage some more bits turned up today, havent opened them yet
yeh i know m8 - imagine doing scotland on it lol it'd look like a fkin voodoo sacrifice  it'll be getting plenty of wax so it should was off easy. need to get some chain wax tho... no way im putting the oiler back on. was using ptfe spray last year & got 14k out of the chain so far, think i only adjusted it 2-3 times tops, so i might stick with that. been a long time since ive had a bike with white wheels but i remember what a git it was to keep clean! just noticed ive put a run in the wheel tho so i'll have to let it go off and do it again tomorrow the forks were appaling considering i only did them last year. also noticed there was about 20cc more oil in the left leg for some reason - no leaks tho?? mustve been pissed up when i changed it last!
just managed to rub out the flaw in the wheel so i can give it another coat tonight... the hardener im using is well faster than the other stuff - even with an accelerator it was taking 24hrs to go off proper. hoping to get the front end back together tomorrow so i can crack on with the fairing & decals, then it's done to say ive missed this bike is an understatement... if you've ever owned one of these you'll know what i mean
before you hit the road dose everything in acf50-it'll make the clean down after riding so much easier fairings as well absolutely brilliant stuff !
i didnt bother mate, i just got myself a devilbiss gti pro hvlp gravity fed gun and a 3hp oil free compressor. i link it into a 25L propane tank with a flexy hose then i can move it around & not spray near the intake of the compressor otherwise it sucks all the overspray in & fks it up. took a few attempts to get the technique right like but got it off to a tee atm, looks proper nice. good paint makes all the difference; got some new hardener yesterday that goes off in air in 2hrs - wish id used that from the start lol. noticed a few marks on the tank that hopefully i can mop out but i just want it back on the road now. did the front wheel, forks, yokes, fairing bracket etc today so the front end is ready for going back on tomorrow. i got bored as well so i made meself a helicopter spotter
lol i have to agree.. kwak is next for a rebuild tho. keeps me out of mischief the fuel cap was done in black satin hammerite & every time i filled up it smudged onto the paintwork, that wont hppen again lol. got a carbon thing on the way to trim it - should look nice
