weekend away May 11 - not shell island cos matin says its w**k

Friends have told me that about Shell Island too, I want to get away from Mancy scum not take them to Wales with me

 

There's a brilliant campsite at wasdale head in the lakes as well just the other side of the hardknott pass, other than bank hols it never gets too busy there, might be one for later in the year.

 

its a bit like tallacre as well..... bit of a jeremy kyle destination imo :lol:

 

every time we do a firestorm meet & ride we try to do a long weekend.

i usually just take the friday off if poss and ride back sunday pm.
it'll be light nights by then so theres nothing stopping folk just heading out after work and landing 7-8pm.
wherever we head mid / north wales / lakes, its not really more than a 2 - 2 1/2hr ride and as its only a 2 nighter max, it'll be travelling light.

maybe we can persuade someone to head down in a transit or summat and get them to cart the gear so we can have a bit of sport in the quick bits

if we do rhayader we defo need a trip over elan valley and theres some cracking places to set someone up with a tripod and get some kneedown shots (use fones to signal the road's clear)



another storming summer destination is the queen vic bikers pub in coalville.
free camping, great live musc, beer, food, - if theres more than 10 they let you doss in the pub (lock in lol)
we were still drinking at 3am lol & everyone doing donuts and burnouts outside - then 2 minibuses full of rock chicks turned up at midnight!!! AWESOME :boff:

time it right they have a battle of the bands on - other time it's 2-3 live acts over the weekend.
only thing is you get woke up early by the cbt school in the carpark lol!

best route is take the roads we do on the matlock run, then carry on south east.... brings you right into coalville on the B roads (superb biking roads)
it's about 80 mile from lymm but its a very nice ride - again, travel light.

the only way i can think of to describe it - it's as close to the titty twister as ive ever seen!

Sounds good to me<br /><br />Just spoke to the other half and she was loaning about it being her weekend off from kids aswell so I said y didn't she follow in her car so she can put some stuff in and she said ok! We're based deeside so if it all goes off could meet local to here if people wanna off load there things, it's not the biggest of cars but with seats down will get a few boys and bobs in<br /><br />Some dead nice roads towards shell island if u go the back way through to it! We have stayed in Harlech before as opposed to shell island years ago, was good and cheap camping there

 

Sounds like a plans been hatched, could do with a camping taster prior to Scotland.. Hubby be up for it to!

 

A big thanks to you all for helping me con Jen into camping, been trying for nearly 10 years, but just a few months on the forum and she's even bought us a tent!....... If she asks, hairdryers, hot showers and a cup of coffee in bed are complimentary as standard. !-)
