Mwaahahhahahaaarr yes i know the fiter is minging lol but there yer go. cant get no bigger than that on it! had to modify the bowl & cvt cover to get it to fit....
lol thought you'd like that daz! its a 26mm keihin roundslide - same as fitted to a kx80 got some 10mm nylon plate to make an insulator tomorrow, then fk about getting the jetting right (again!) just got it right with the 19mm but it runs out of puff at about 70 lol the 19mm is on a 122 atm and the new carb has a 120 in which from what ive read is the standard size for the kwak. shouldnt be too far off. & yes... filter is soaking in some cleaner atm! might not use that foam element yet cos ive got another that fits a bit better
out with the old - and in with the new! made a nylon adapter for the new 26mm carb, to replace the 19mm jobby. i swear this stuff is harder than diamonds lol - took bloody ages! ended up cutting a flat slice out of one of them crash bung things cos i needed it angled a bit like a wedge shape so the carb bowl clears the casings. got to slot the mounting holes in the carb to get the centres lined up cos theyre about 5mm out but all being well should be ready to test it tomorrow & play with the jetting according to the software i'm using, this should push it to 23.5hp
bit higher than that atm cos i used another base gasket, (3 in total and a 1.2mm ally spacer) jacked it by 2.0,, and squish is .9. could do with measuring compression tbh if anyone's got a gauge .6 works out at 30 thou which is the bare arse minimum you want for good power, but with this one, the piston crown is well domed so ive set it a bit higher. im sure you know your 2 strokes from karting - most of my early 2 stroke tuning i learned from terry shepperd who is still well known in the karting world
.9mm sounds more like it. We could run at .7 but the power dropped off after a bit unless we ran av gas but they cottoned onto that
lolz!!! it'd self destruct even on 97ron. i used to run model airplane fuel (ether) as an additive in my racer - smelt like victory V's - was awesome lol, with that stuff in it'd idle at 6k!
having a right mare sorting the jetting with the new carb lol. so far its on a 178 main and seems spot on mid - top but struggling with the idle jet atm. only got a few to play with like - the one that came with the carb is a .33 and it will only start on choke then is really weak when i open the flap, obviously undersized. so i tried a .40 and it's a bit better but will still only start on 1/2 choke. just put a .45 in out of a spare set of firestorm carbs and its loads better, picks up well and ticks over but only on 1/3 choke so last one ive got is a .48 lol. thing is the 26mm carb im using was meant for a 4 stroke atv so i knew it woud be a mile off. standard carb on these btw is 12mm  think i'll pop the 48 in and take it for a spin to see what it's like under load. also blew the head gasket while testing it so i'll take the head in work with me and mill a groove in it for an o ring instead of the copper one. feels very fast on the road - topped out at the black line on the speedo - not a clue what that is in mph but i'll gps it and make some proper marks on it next time i take it out i reckon it's about 70mph so far
Martin Ive just ordered a few more bits and peices and my 2 secret weapons, Ive been told I can expect 70mph and reliable so this im happy with
nice one lol! just a bit wary of proper opening mine up in case i melt the piston lol. revs out really well on the stand though but is a bit smoky yet as im on 20-1 to run it in. just got to fab up the zorst now & it should be a proper flyer will defo need a bigger tank though cos i reckon 30mpg tops on this as it stands :S
yeh thats what im thinking daz, not so much a bike tank & crossmember but a big tube - 4-6" plated off with a filler cap, should hold a fair bit. some extra weight toward the front would help keep the wheel down as well lol!
I reckon with the seat bucket out you could fabricate one under there or within it as well plenty of room
73mph on my tomtom gets to 60 very quick and 0-40 is almost instant, much faster than before. that's with a different clutch & torque driver.... i swapped to the one from my baotian with stock contrast spring & it's a lot better. seemed like i was wasting 5000rpm before. need to experiment with some heavier rollers next & might step the main jet to 180 as it still feels like it's gasping over 70. got a good selection of jets up to 230's but hope i dont have to go that big lol! :O i dont think itll go any quicker though until i've got the new exhaust on & get it revving a bit higher - the leovince TT that's on it peaks at 8500 so maybe it's that whats making it run out of steam?
