    lolz i'll have a shop around for u m8.

the speedfight had the wrong spark plug in btw lol!!!
    it shouldve been a 19mm reach br7es not a 12.7mm reach br7hs.
    that would explain it then!
    easy mistake to make.
more or less the same fault on ben's aprillia on the beast run.

i think maybe someone asked for a new plug for a speedfight1 a/c but didnt mention it had a polini head on it ;)

    ah sh*t happens m8.
when you look for parts they just look in the book.
its took me all day digging to get the right numbers lol and im still not convinced its the right plug.

thing is.... ive already took the head down and theres another mil coming off the cylinder to get the squish right.
with a 19mm plug it looks like this...
the tip of the plug will clear the piston by .3mm which is a bit too close imo with expansion etc...
*bit misleading that pic though as that's a firestorm plug & although it has the same 19mm reach, the electrode sticks out a further 3mm than the br7es...
so thinking about it, i will actually have just over 3mm clearance which should be ok....

otherwise the options are... change the head, which i cba doin.
(though i have got a st6 one on the way;) )
or mill out 5mm from the land where the plug seats and use a 12.7mm H plug.
or space off a 19mm E plug with copper washers to get the right clearance from the crown.
    the plug should sit in the recess above the main bowl of the combustion chamber {1st pic}

another option is to cut a taper thread and use a bosch plug with a 5/8" taper thread.

is all part of the process of getting it right daz, not your fault, its just me being a fussy fker lol :D

I would use the extra washers for the time being & work from that mate, TBH its the least amount of work & your not fucking the head up.

Sounds like your well on with it mate f*ck me itll be a propper speed demon

The lad at my local breakers has a full set of good plastics in any colour you like as well, so the orange ones can go if u like lol :paperbag:

oh right, ask him for us if you can daz... tbh i was thinking of adding it to my white collection lol.
i dont want it to look fast or it'll get robbed.

did you look at that porting software btw.... ;)

burnt my fkin dremel out before so i cant do anything more with this til ive got a new one, and i need to get the cylinder on a lathe to trim 1mm off the top.
loads to do on it yet before i fire it up again.
might have a word with gramps as well & see if they can get me a 47mm dykes ring ;)

also decided... ive got a spare firestorm cooling fan... 9" jobby and a little temp controller, so i'll cut away under the seat and graft it in with a bit of ducting for extra cylinder & head cooling.
it's going to need it lol.
there's a little sensor on the controller so i can set it so the fan kicks in & out when its needed, like on an lc. then theres just enough room to get another gallon tank under the seat.
hopefully it will help keep the wheel down lol :D

Sounds pretty expensive to be fair. But if it's any decent build quality - once the ped blows up (Which it inevitably will!) You could grab the FI off it for another project!

that's not a ped carb..... THIS is a ped carb

    thats the in....

    this is the out :D
    [IMG]

196 degree duration @ 70% cord.... rings will last about 1000 mile tops! :O
is still more to come off but no point yet as this matches the header on the leo pipe...
i'll match it to the new one when it's made :)

    just to compare....

19mm stage 6 carb on the left, versus the new uber one :D

You're gonna sell the SP, aren't you? You'll never be off the ped once it's up and running.

no lol.... i havent even started modding the sp yet :D
thing is modding 4 strokes costs big money. modding these little engines costs peanuts.
that carb was £20 brand new, and a jet kit for a tenner

compare that with like £350 worth of power commander, a grand on a good exhaust system, 600 on cams... modding big 4t's costs too much.

going back to my early days, i used to get a massive buz from riding tuned 2 strokes... when they come on the pipe its fkin ace lol.
i'd love another nice lc single, maybe an rs125 or something.... got my eyes peeled for a bargain.
i guarantee by the time ive finished with it it'l be just as quick as the sp lol :D

i reckon i'll be lucky to see 35-40mpg out of the scoot when its finished and it'll need a rebuild every 1000 mile at the most, all part of the fun :D

the biggest problem is going to be cooling it.

i think yours is a bws next gen best budget zorst is the leo vince tt all your tuning bits here mate http://www.adrenalin-pedstop.co.uk/cp-Bws_Next_Gen-894.aspx

its uses the same engine as the speedfight too so some parts should be interchangable

after some thought ive made a decision....

ive done this before with good results so fk it im going to go for it.
as the cylinder im using is cast iron so it has no liner... i can afford to bore it out a bit further.
currently it is a 67.66cc polini corsa sports big bore kit.
they dont do anything bigger without major mods including different crank, longer conrod for longer stroke and lots of milling to the crankcases.

    b/s says i :D

on my old suzi x1 i fkt up by boring the original 40mm to the max +1.5 then a circlip came out & scored the barrel, so rather than scrap it, i used a 49mm piston off a suzuki fr80 which has the same size (12mm) gudgeon pin and same distance from pin to crown.
it meant boring my old cylinder out another 7 1/2mm which is a lot - total 9mm came off it, making the liner 4.5mm thinner.
this doesnt really matter apart from it makes the ports shallower and lose the chamfer, but the main thing is the skirt area under the piston, which is not doing anything apart from guiding the piston on its downstroke.
it was still ok & went like stink, but i had to cut the transfer & boost ports deeper and cut a bit off the piston skirt as it was quite a bit longer than the original one...

anyway, ive decided i want more than 67cc on my ped, without doing the other mods... and i want a massively oversquare bore/stroke for very high rpm, so i plan on doing the same thing... sort of.

so, looking around, and knowing the dimensions of the suzuki piston, i found these....
    http://motorcyclepro...m-p-133022.html
    that's a +2.5mm fr80 piston, 51.50mm which means i will have to bore the cylinder a further 4.5mm but will make it 81.24cc :D

that extra 14cc is a world of difference lol.... the difference again from going from a 50 to a 65cc big bore kit, near enough.

i got my verniers out and had a measure...
4.5mm diameter is only 2.25mm off the radius, so i would only be reducing the cylinder walls by 2.25mm.

    pffft.

    then i found this....
    http://motorcyclepro...m-p-133023.html
    MWAHAHAAHAHHhaaaaaaarrrrr :D
+4.00mm oversize fr80 piston. 53mm bore, which would mean opening my cylinder out another 6mm.
again, halving this to 3.0mm means there is still plenty of meat left in the cylinder but it increases the capacity to 86.04cc

guess what i just ordered lol :w00t:

i have no idea yet what the potential of the bigger bore is, but i'll enter the new numbers into my simulator app & see what it says.....

    i'll edit in a bit.

here yer go..... limited this to power output with the new 26mm carb... really dont wnt to go any bigger or i'll be filling it up every 10 miles lol!

first - the 51.5mm 81.24cc mod - peak power 24.7bhp @ 11,356rpm but that orange line is where i would get ring flutter @ 11.000rpm.

compared to the 53.0mm 86.04cc mod - peak power 25.4bhp @ 11,069rpm, just above the ring flutter speed of 11k.

as you can see, there isn't a great deal of difference in raw HP with the extra 5cc, but maybe a little more torque.

what the bigger piston does is make it rev a little lower, which would probably be safer in terms of ring flutter (you dont want a ring breaking at 85mph on a ped lol) and also the 'mean piston speed' is lower in the number of feet per minute the piston travels, so possible longer piston & ring life.

another difference is in the porting.... for optimum power / piston wear, you set the 'cord' (exhaust port width) to between 60 - 70% of the bore size, which means with the larger bores, i could increase the size of the exhaust port further than it is atm & wring a bit more power & torque out of it lol

another point is, as there is not a lot of difference, less than 1hp, between the 2 oversize pistons, i think i'll change my order and go for the smaller 51.5mm bore so if i end up wrecking it i can still rebore it and go larger.... that's me being sensible, which is rare. opinions are welcome. but i won't listen lol
