where is smudge? is he alive after the gear he was obviously on last night? has he overdosed? im concerned. So knowing how badly John needed his little bike for work this afternoon, and the fact the only other biker local to him that was smudge, who judging by post on here knows less about bike than me(and thats bad coz i know fuck all) i decided to nip round early and see if we couldn't get him on the road in time for work, so an hour of so of fault finding and double checking everything we gets Daz on the blower.........anyone remember Daz? so we now know whats wrong with the little chinky................can anyone guess what two things it most defiantly wasn't?

Hmmm. So it made a funny noise. Then died. Battery is ok. Fuel is ok. Turns over but wont start? And the correct answer is........ (Oh and cliff was on the right track)
it was a snapped cam chain, but the drive chain and battery were perfect well the chain is in need of cleaning and lubing but it was adjusted right and the battery was strong as an ox

The chain will be cheap. Its what other damage may have been done. The camchain keeps the valves in perfect timing with the piston. Without it, they can become somewhat more intimate with each other. Also you need to see if the chain is the cause or result of the failure. Something up top may have locked up, causing the chain to go? Its a strip, inspect and rebuild job im afraid.
if its like my ped for the beast run im sure martin told me they dont connect if they snap, he changed my cam to a race cam in the purple beast, but its defo time to have the head off which i can help with but getting it back together timed up is above my expertise
