Cheers bud, wont be long now till its done waiting for some spare cash to get the last bits it needs.
400's are easy to work on and can pick them up cheap enough that need work

Been a while since i have updated this, i haven't had chance to do anything with it.
But i got the exhaust on the other day and today i charged the battery up and got some petrol :)
She started after a few tries till the petrol got to her, was running a little lumpy and fuel came out of the carb overflow, so took the carbs off and stripped and cleaned them (didnt touch the carbs at all as the guy i got the bike off said he had already done them) also noticed the mixture screws were all over the place, so set them all to 2 1/4 turns out and she started up first time and runs absolutely perfect.
I cant believe how good it runs idle's perfect doesn't even fluctuate just keeps a constant sound and idle, and she revs so clean, i have never seen a bike that runs so good. Looks like i have done well building this engine :), proper pleased with it.

Things i need to do now are get a new battery, mirros, screen and indicators. I also need to bleed the brakes and get the pearl white for the fairings and graphics, then its off for mot and tax.

The missus has decided im not allowed to sell it when its done as she now wants it cause she can touch the floor while sitting on it (she is 4' 11") and i think she quite suites it lol.

Still need to spray the engine cases

    Just waiting on fairing now

youre a clever bugger you I could do with you as mines due a good engine service !2000 miles. how much would you charge ???

Depends what you would want doing bud?
would you want full strip down with new piston rings, head gasket, sump gasket, cover gaskets, output shaft bearing, cylinder bores checked clutch plate check, gears dogs and selector forks checked, all internals cleaned including pistons and valve seats and all valves re seating then valve clearances checked? lol Thats the general gist of what i would do for an engine over haul replacing anything which needs replacing.
Oh and new oil and coolant lol.

If you was to bring the engine out of the bike would be £150 labour + parts cost, or if you leave the bike with me for me to get engine out would do it for £200 labour + parts cost and also do a complementary wash and polish of the bike :)

And thanks for the comment i do take pride in the work i do :)

Got thw fairings back that were meant to be getting plastic welded. 6 months he had them and not even touched them.....wanker

Anyway I made a start on them anyway.
This is a pic of the left hand lower which had the corner piece missing so I ise filling mesh and shaped it to what it should be and stuck it on with some plastic weld.
I then use filler to build up the area sanding after each coat, just one more skim of filler and a sand down and it will be ready for primer :). Yes my talents are endless lol

Finally got my fairings back 6 months later , they were meant to be getting plastic welded...............he hasn't even touched them, tosser wont be asking him any favours again.

Anyway at least i got them back and can crack on sorting them, i have spent most of today in the man cave doing just that :).

Here are some pics for you.

This is the left lower, the whole corner piece was missing so i used mesh to do a mock of the corner and stuck it in place i then built it up with filler sanding between skims, just need 1 more skim of filler and a sand down then will be ready for primer.

This is the piece i was most worried about doing, but i think i have done a pretty good job this is before
    [IMG]
This is after, i plastic welded the back and just need to put a skim of filler over the front sand it down then its ready for primer
    [IMG]

On the same peiece of fairing part of it was missing, so i made a mock with mesh like the left lower and stuck it in place
    [IMG]
I then built it up with filler, just finished sanding it down needs 1 more skim of filler and a sand then it will be perfect, i made sure it lines up with the nose cone and im pretty impressed :p lines up perfect
    [IMG]

Going to carry on doing the fairings tomorrow as i have been doing them all day and only finished at !2:00am lol

Got a bit more done today not as much as yesterday but im pretty much nearly ready for sanding everything down and priming.
    Some pics here

Last skim of filler on this piece and sanded down to shape, i had to take the made up tag off as it was too brittle so would of just snapped off.
Fitted to the nose cone, pretty much perfect, may sand a little bit more see if i can get it to fit flush
    [IMG]

Fitted the fairings temporarily to make sure everything lines up as i know it has been on its side before i got it and clock brace was bent so thought i would double check, and everything lines up perfect :)

Need to get some wet and dry sand paper now and some high built plastic primer, ill sort that out get them primed then ill get the base coat and pearl white and order the graphics from imageworks

Bit more work done, i now have the fairings practically ready for primer just 1 or 2 things on 2 panels left to do then can prime them all ready for paint :)

The one on the right was missing the whole piece which comes up and over into a point so i had to rebuild it and i think it has turned out pretty good :)

Bought myself a compressor and spray gun to make the spraying cheaper and easier, i may have also sourced a guy that has a back log of OEM graphics :D

Got all the paint and everything today, including primer, thinners, laquer, tack cloths etc.
Going to make a start on prep work and spraying over next few weeks :)
