nice project mate .and very detailed by the looks ...stripping and cleaning is the easy bit...gettin it back together and workin as it should can be a pain in the arse at times.hope it goes well and good luck..cant wait to see the finnished bike...not sure i would have sprayed the sump tho,,think the paint will peel off soon enough
New head gakset and sump gasket came today, just need the piston rings to get here now and engine can be put back together
Got my wheels back from the powder coaters today, they have done a brilliant job and in a new super gloss black they just got in. Defo recommend Eltropak ltd in preston He said they were hot coated aswell. very happy with them, just waiting on the discs to turn up and need to get them down to the college and nag the tutor to let me use the tire machine lol
Yeah mate £60 for the pair they are acid dipped and then dipped in a cleaner then roughed up and hot coated. Will be taking all parts for powder coating to them from now on
Very nice, want to get my fork lowers done at some point when I change my springs and oil so will give them a call. Have you got their number to save me looking it up!
There number is 01772 258699 He told me the more things you take to get powder coated the cheaper it gets so next time ill be taking quite a bit instead just the odd thing at a time lol
Thanks for that I'll keep the number til I'm ready. That gloss black is bob on for my bike colour, was thinking it had to be matt black so glad you posted this.
Box of goodies from GF for the nc23 Ignitech hrc mapped cdi, iridium spark plugs, new reg/rec, exhaust studs and gaskets, wiring loom and light control.
Well made a start on putting engine back together, got new piston rings on and bearing shells in, gears, selector forks and dogs in, gear change mechanism in, but now im at a stand still i dont have a piston ring compressor so cant put the 2 halves together untill i can get one . Something always stops you eh lol
Made a start on the engine again today, got the pistons in, clutch done, stator and timing wheel done, all new gaskets done and covers on also head is on but need to do valve clearances. Here some pics Going to sort clearances out and get cover on and give out side of engine a good clean
Cheers, still waiting for the guy to send the discs i would of gone and got them by now but he lives in bloody scotland lol. And the hammer i have had for years its my trusty hammer lol
Its coming together now, managed to blag my old tutor to let me take my wheels down to college and fit the tires lol. Got the wheels on, subframe, undertray, battery box, rear seat and lock mechanism, rear lights and mud guard. Just need to wait for the discs which the guy still hasn't sent then can put them on the wheels also need to get a new chain and sprockets. Need to spray the clock/light bracket then can fit that and get the clocks and front lights fitted and start fitting the loom. Anyway here are some pictures for you all. Adam
Yeah she is getting there bud, not long now and can get engine in and get her started, then can concentrate on sorting the fairings out
Sticking with the original fairings which are the Type 5 colour scheme Which is the original baby fireblade and the first ever fireblade was based on this model and colour scheme so mine a little rare . Keeping it completely standard not got anything planned for it, maybe a programmable ignitech cdi with hrc map and some iridium plugs and dyno jets, but keeping it looking standard
Another update, today i cleaned up the clock/light bracket with a wire drill bit and sprayed it in hammerite smooth silver (my black ran out but the silver goes well with the subframe ). Got the clocks and lights fitted up, i also fit the cdi, reg/rec, exhaust hanger, fuel pump bracket and all the clips for the loom. Tomorrow i will be putting the loom on and doing the valve clearances on the engine. Some pics for you Cleaned up bracket wire wire drill bits Sprayed Cleaned up exhaust bracket Adam
Well after getting very pissed off about my nc23 breaking down once again due to torrential rain i decided i need to crack on and get the 29 on the road so the 23 can come off the road for another full over haul. So i got the engine in today and all the loom hooked up and i now have POWEEEEEEER lol. Only things i need to get it through mot when its together is discs, chains and sprockets and break pads, anyone know if the 23 discs are interchangable as the ones on the 23 are like new still and if im taking it off the road might aswell get some use out of them. Some pics Dont worry about the battery i hooked up the 23 quickly to check electrics Adam
