Very nice mate, yano im sure it was your blade in black that i saw 2 years ago that made me want one ;) was talkin to u and askin about ur reservoir kit on the rear ... and here is the result haha ... crazy !

Got loadsa questions for u but il save 'em for when i see ya

you've no bellypan too, but i think it looks great for it ... hmm iv just fitted mine now and trying to decide whether its better with, or without. Really just gonna have to wheel it out on a nice day, fully together, and decide. cheers for pic anyway, always good to see other peoples interpretation of the same bike !! love it :shades: how long have you had it for / been modding it ?

yeah think i remember talkin to ya about it, it aint got a belly pan for a purpose tho mate, much easier to wheelie without one! lol, ive had it for about 5 yrs, its been under a few different guises over the time, it started out life as a '94 urban tiger then the bloke i bought it off had it as his race/trackday tool, i kept the farings on for a year but hugging the bike aint for me, i like to be sat upright as i used to ride trials and motocross years ago and just got used to that really?! if i got rid i'd be wanting a k5 gixxer thou or a busa to 'fighter, like the blade too much to get rid tho :D

might be a stupid question, but why is that? I can't imagine extra weight would be noticeable...

its not the weight, the wind hooks the belly pan at hight speeds and pulls you back down, im not saying you cant wheelie with a belly pan or fully faired but it is defo lots easier without it, the lads at the world wheelie records all did this :)

Haha well i doubt il be doing much wheelieing for fear of dropping the bas*ard thing. At least we're doing the world a favour by saving these bikes from the scrapheap. I'll be out on it soon enough for a chin wag though, im currently fookin' around with my fuel pump, seems it was airlocked at first, now its got fuel through it but doesnt seem to be pumping. im considering just running gravity feed and getting rid of the PITA pump/relay setup. Are you running this ? (im guessing you use your pump if you wheelie a lot?) ... Tomorrows job i think, then riding mx at wkend hopefully ...

Lilday, iv got the pic, just not uploaded it as im at work now and training tonite. pop back on here tomorrow night and il have it up for you to have a look at. I think it does look better side on but a bit gash viewed from the front because it doesnt have a V piece anymore :(

my last blade was gravity fed, its ok til you give it beans then it starves itself. dont do it, get a new or re-con fuel pump mate, it will save you many headaches in the long run, £80 fer a new one or £40ish re-con, hope this helps you :)

Thanks! iv read on net quite a few have done this without problems ... maybe they dont give it as many beans as you haha ? or do you run tank low-ish ? Im not absolutely 100% sure the pump is the problem.
If you've got a minute the story goes ...
When i tried to start bike sounded like no fuel gettin to engine, 5 tries later = nowt. reoved tank and shorted pump at relay plug to check pump is ok and it runs but sounded really 'buzzy' ... maybe dry ?
had a look and the fuel filter is empty! The big loop in feed line from tank to pump caused an air lock, so i lifted tank right up and fuel fills the filter (and into the pump im guessing !) ... tried to run pump again (shorted) to attempt to fill carbs but the fuel level in filter didnt drop. Maybe the quick release fitting (which is unplugged) has sealed the line causing a vacuum when the pump is running ? So i reconnected the tank, turned ign on and try and start the bike but no sign of the pump running. Looking at wiring diagram the only things that need to be right are The stop switch needs to be in run, obviously, and the ignition on. Ive also got the sidestand up, the bike is in neutral and im holding clutch in (covering all bases, at least i thought i was). Haynes says there is no real way of checking the relay other than with a new one (I tested with Fluke and cant find anything other than an intermittant couple of MegOHMS on two terminals. So kinda stuck, hoped i could bin the lot and be done with it !

Just back to your figures for a new one etc, is that from honda or an alternative ? Do Bosch or the likes make a universal one that would do the trick. Bodging / making sommet fit doesnt worry me in the slightest, just wanna get her running. worst case scenario - i run it gravity nice and slow til i find out exact fault and sort accordingly.

cheers for info, though you may wish u hadnt shown your face with the questions i may have for ya in return hahaha. Sure its worth a pint or two to you ;)

Ok here's the pic in double quick time just because i know lilday is on the edge of his seat waiting haha ...

here she is with the bellypan. ignore the cardboard cutout under the seat, that still needs to be made out of ally with a white gloss sticker covering it. Also the seat isnt clipped down properly. everything else (apart from it actually running) is done :)

thoughts ? opinions ? (on the bellypan)

oh and please excuse the huuuge piece of cardboard, ive that much crap in the garage its hard seeing the shape of bikes with so much in the background so i just put it behind to help see it ;)

when you run the bike, hold the fuel pump, if it pulses then its fine, this means it is doing its job. (the bike has to be running for this) gravity fed is ok for a quick fix but if its meant to have a pump then keep one there. on ebay a second hand one is £40ish and a brand new one is £80ish, that should cure your headache, if not giz a shout ok :)

gravity fed aint enough when your proper givin it loads, it cant pump enough juice cos is only sucking a bit whereas a pump is pushing it at all times aint it. its not down to leathering it all over the shop, for instance: your having a laugh just cruising down some decent A road right, you get a bit brave, start givin it a bit more then all of a sudden your bike starts with the kangaroo juice, ON A BEND. f*ck that clean off, all cos your bike cant sup enough juice, cos its gravity fed. been there, done that. didnt end up pretty. dont chance it our kid, trust me ;)

oh no i wont dude, you've had one a long time and any info you've got is first hand soooo ... tomoz when im off im gonna run through circuit again and test the pump (and relay coz that aint right) and take it from there. maybe just get it mot'd with out pump whilst one is winging its way to me :) cheers

Ok so just a quick update, spent the best part of 5 hours today fault finding the ignition circuit. Pump is still dodgy / not working but i had another big problem ... The pump problem led me to this no spark problem also. Ended up looking like the cdi was dodgy ... long story short, there was no 12v feed getting to it. The kill switch feeds the cdi 12v in normal condition. 12v was coming out of kill switch and getting to its connector ok but not arriving at cdi, hence the loom rip out. turns out there was what looked like a 15 year old repair mid loom, bloody buried in the wires, that had been badly soldered and then taped. It had snapped during the subframe build (probably from moving it about all the time). The hardest bit was removing the 4 layers of tape/wrap ! Just a little tip, i used a sewing needle to do the half split technique (thank you apprenticeship!) gently pushing it in mid-wire then testing to the connector til i found where the voltage disappeared. Temp repaired it til i can get some more solder but im so glad it happened now rather than somewhere miles away as there is no way it would be found at the side of the road ! Anyway so i tried starting it after all that and at least it sounded like it was trying to fire, with a bit of a backfire prob coz i had airbox off. Pump still not running and i shorted it to test it but dead. Battery was dying and i had to come to work so its charging ready for a fresh try tomorrow, with gravity feed !
will update as soon as she breathes again

its bad that you found another prob but as you say better at home than miles away, i reckon it will fire up next go as youve ironed out them gremlins, fingers crossed eh :)
