Yes is called hazard perception and is part of the bike test Admitted the guy on the bike was a learner so the chances of him seeing a test are slim Sent from my Nexus 4 via a satellite in space
Lets get one thing straight. Not being at fault doesn't guarantee you no pain. We all know we have to ride to stay safe rather than not be at fault. Im trying to think about kerping the lad alive and safe. Thinking of blame or fault are a luxury for most riders. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
If it was a kid running down the road then maybe it would be worth slowing down, but an adult... a grown woman... STOP CATERING FOR STUPID PEOPLE
If you dont cater for the stupid people you could well end up a dead biker. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
really... you want to go that way? It's the catering for stupid people in the 1st place that increases the risk of death due to riding a motorbike. I would like to think that the woman has learnt a lesson here, but alas i fear that she has not.
I fear that neither learnt anything. The woman probably thinks the biker was going too fast and the rider probably thinks he was in the right and the woman was stupid so doesnt need to alter his riding style. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Here ya go new guy, remember the camera is about 6 inches higher than the rider's eyes so viewing angle would be lower than what we see from the video. there is no way he would have seen that woman apart from a brief flash of white when he was next to the black peugeot just before the junction.
The fact is out side of London motorcycles do not reach the critic volume to be regularly considered by the general public. You will see what appears to be insane riding by London couriers in London because the public are bike aware. Ride like a London courier out of London and your days to events like this are number. Actually the NW cities had the worst pedestrian awareness IMHO. In the eyes of the law you may be in the right, but if you have tangled with a pedestrian in the eyes of the insurance company you are a financial liability until you have won the claim off the pedestrian. That is why I had to claim off the parents policy.
If i see a man, woman, child, animal or anything like that running anywhere near the road, they are a potential hazard to me.
I don't think its the rider's fault but he could have prevented that accident from happening As per Jaffas comment above ...he could have prevented an accident .... a jury would define that as being at fault had he killed the woman .He could have and must have seen her on the right as he approached the junction. Learner he may be but I despair at the thought of riders not considering pedestrians running for a bus a hazzard
"That van coulda pulled out!" << where was it going to go? e Exactly .... its a two lane one way road, both lanes were stopped so the pedestrian would not have expected moving traffic barrelling down the middle of the road . not being a biker would not be expecting filtering probably has no idea what it is or where it happens , she thought she could cross safely as the traffic in both lanes was already stopped.
really bad obs form the bike rider ..he should have seen her well before that junction , and anticpated what could happen , a pedestrian rushing along at the "angle" she was is a grade one hazard to me the pedestrian is at Fault ...but a very good solicitor would try his best to blame the bike...... Cant really believe she just hobbled off into the distance had that biker gone down with the traffic moving a bit more , under the wheels of a bus or something ...it could have been far worse than what it was ....im sure they will both be more alert from now on Filtering ...is it necessary? is it safe ? what will you gain ?....think about it
Filtered through miles of traffic today on the m60/61 . Of course we filter thats why I got a bike so I can go out on bank holiday Monday and not be stuck going nowhere fast. Filtering though, requires enhanced alertness anticipation and spacial awareness and eyes looking everywhere. And sometimes to not be unlucky.
Unfortunately in life 'Shit Happens'. He was filtering too fast, what if it had been an unsighted small child. Fuck! some of youse will be Older one day. Yes she should have looked, and will next time. Glad no one was hurt.Lesson learnt, for them but not necessary some bods of Here. Ha!
Not sure if its just the cameras POV but i saw her as soon as she came into frame both partys where stupid but it could of been avoided if the biker would slow down
