You clearly have learned fuck all in your long riding career.

I love the advice you spout on here after less than a year on the road.

Some of us can maybe judge each overtake, and string them together?

Sometimes you will do one and the next isnt on.
    Sometimes it is, and again.

Please watch what you call me too pal.

Hello all well I'm David from Swinton, totally fresh road biker done a lot of enduro and field stuff back in the younger years, decided I wanted to be a biker mid life crises at 32 or is it a way to get away from the kids don't own a bike yet but hopefully will have one this weekend, planning on doing full bike licence within 3 months, and enjoy some meets and runs

Sorry... Most of your posts can be down to misunderstanding or point of view, but on this you're talking guff

I'm not saying it's safe to overtake as many cars as you'd like whenever you'd like, but you need to use a bit of sense and judgement to read the situation...

It might be safe to overtake 5, but it might not be safe to even overtake one... It's not so black and white

Watch the fuckin red car it pulls over to the road center line quite clearly saying he is impatient and is. Going for overtake then take into consideration. He has 6x9 speakers on the parcel shelf and is a boy racer that don't give a shit

I don't know why I'm bothering but that's garbage ( I changed that word 3 times before I posted it) if your positions right and you've got a good view ahead you can ride for miles on the wrong side of the road in perfect safety.

It must be dead frustrating knowing you're right and everyone else is wrong. Everyone can see that but the problem was he didn't get wide enough out from the car and he hesitated.

I agree this was caused due to hesitation in the cars blind spot and road positioning.

personally, seeing a car that close behind one in front and near the center line I wouldn't overtake unless traffic is slow moving enough where I know I can get past before the inevitable swerve. I complete all my overtakes as swiftly as possible rather than cruising past just over flow of traffic. too much invasion of my bubble otherwise.

but also...this is why we have a flasher button on most motorcycles and also a horn. theyre not there to vent frustration or give way as most people use them. if you judge a driver is not aware of your presence, why not give a few flashes and a toot with your indictor on to prompt a look in their mirror so they see your intention. it may be considered aggressive and a faux pas in Britain but look at the rest of the world. we dont seem to use our signals to their full potential. im happy to use them where necessary when I doubt I've been seen. (not flashing at junctions of course to avoid misinterpretation) I may get a finger put up at me for beeping but id much rather that, than be side swiped mid overtake.

p.s its a good thread... if it makes just one person adjust their road position for even one potentially dangerous overtake then youve done well. even smudger may move over a tad more next time hes leapfrogging one car at a time ;)

Yes smudger you are correct that red car had previously shown its intentions to overtake, and personally I would have hung back to let him pass before I did, however in the video if the rider hadnt hesitated half way past he would have overtaken no problem
On the subject of multiple overtakes whether it be 1 car or several at a time the basics are the same, good observations, planning ahead, looking as far ahead as possible to see potential issues, checking over your shoulder/blind spot, seeing the gaps between the vehicles that you can pull in to if you need to do so.
I made several multiple vehicle overtakes today, I had no issues at all, I was patient, I picked somewhere that I could clearly see down the road, I also was aware that the car in front knew I was there because lots of cars when they see a bike behind them move slightly left to give you a bit more room,
I am not a balls to the wall rider, I try to be smooth and steady but I do like to make progress when the roads and conditions allow.
