Powder coating is suitable for the spring as thats what they are to start with. Ill have a look at them first to see how i feel about doing them.

    Right then,

Had a few things delivered today (Hel brake lines, R & G crash bungs and front brake seals).

Not really done much this week, so I am gonna have to work extrahard this coming weekend.

Main object this weekend, get the swing arm off the bike and prep it ready for painting. Decided not to go for the powder coating route.

I will keep you all updated.

Just a quick post to let know know how I am getting on with the bike, been busy this weekend and managed to get a lot done.

Rigged up a support for the bike, to enable me to remove the swing arm.

    Cleaned behind the swingarm.

Cleaned and primed the swing arm.

My R & G kit arrived the other day so whilst I was at I changed the old water bottle for the R & G item.

You should of done mate, Its good when you have finished as you can compare what the bike was like before you started. Not sure if people will even be able to see the difference in my bike as it wasnt that bad in the first place.

Glad I am doing it though, as it gives you a chance to have a look at the bike. Not looking forward to cutting the fairings for the crash bungs mind

The ladder tip was fucking genius pal, works really well and gives you good access round the bike whilst you are working on it.

I know I have time mate, nothing is going to be rushed as I want it to be mint. After looking at the shock today. It looks like I am going to have to powder coat the spring.

I am not going to be getting the wheels done as they are going to be off and on the bike when I hit the tracks again. The money I save from them is going to go on finding some wets.

Still need to change the front sprocket, does not want to let go. I will have another go myslef once its all back together.

On another note I have read that the dust seals on the front brake calipers always work themselves out, do you think its worth putting them in or not. The lad just said that if you dont put them back you have to clean them out every month or so?

tbh bud i'd put them in..if they work loose push them back in, they won't foul the pad and theyre there to protect the piston.
better than finding pitted & seized pistons.
you will be dropping the calipers off every time you take the wheels off so it's not like you're going to miss anything.
like you say, when you're stripping it down you get to know the bike & will spot any dodgy bits that might need work.

you could do with getting a box of consumables together as well for next season, like spare footpegs, gear lever, brake pedal, levers etc - maybe master cylinder tops after what happened to your m8.
that mustve been a right pisser lol, off on the 2nd sighting lap, no spares = day over.

Yeah I know, I have already put some new foot pegs on so I have the old ones as spares.

Yeah I will rebuild them again c/w new dust seals, they should arrive soon.

    Hows yours coming on?

same as you, no mad rush. still got the kwak to ride.
it could do with a service cos it sounds like a bag of fk til it warms up but i cba so i'm just dropping another engine in it.
be after new year before i start on that one tho - 1 at a time

mot runs out on my cbx750 next week as well so i might give that a run out, not rode it since easter!

Does anyone know where I can get the colour code for the swing arm of my bike, as I am painting it very soon. I wouldnt mind tracking this info down so I can match the colour exactly.

    Biker in need.
