Weekend after next will be my extra long weekend off work, always wanted to do Scotland ( I mean further than just over the border ), so I'm going on a trip up there.
Thought about places I fancy going and this is the sort of route I've come up with -

    https://maps.google....via=1,4,6,8&z=6

Think a few on here have done Scotland trips ( car or bike ), so if anyone knows of any better routes or alterations I could make to make it a better trip then please say so, thanks.

Also for those who know, just how deserted is it right up in the north? Just thinking of fuel stops and obviously should the worst happen will I be able to get a phone signal?

Heard the coppers are very keen up there also?

Checked availability of b&b's ( don't do camping anymore ) and the plan is -
    Friday night - Dumfries
    Sat night - Fort William
    Sun night - Wick
    Mon night - Braemar
    Home some time Tuesday night.

Some may say it will p*ss down and it may but tbh I ain't arsed I just want to get out on the bike all weekend and see something different for a change. Bought some new waterproof gear and a decent tailbag today :D .

I f anyone's done a trip like this any tips or advice is appreciated :)

Be very careful of plod on the A9,lots of unmarked cars there's a very sneaky speed camera just after Stirling near Gleneagles golf course as well. Mostly good otherwise.

I'm up in the highlands. Sept 5678 and 9th

Been every year at some stage. We don't stick to one route but ride up the west coast to Oban. The next day. I can highly recommend the road from fort William to the malaig ferry to the isle of skye, the roads are fantastic. Grab a brew at Portree , then head out of Skye over the Skye bridge along the A87. At invermorrison take the A82 along side loch ness to Inverness. The 87 and 82 will Last for approximately 2 hours and will fry your brain. , the Tarmac is superb the bends amazing the views ,if you have time ....incredible.

I'm doing some work for a publication and we are using fireblades, comparing them from 1996 to 2012. Possible showing of the 2013 model.

The west coast is better than the east coast But from Inverness ride across to Ullapool . Another amazing road.

You need to ride over glen Coe and through the valleys in that area.

I could waffle on for hours about the routes you could take , but everywhere you go will be an adventure. You will NOT seen any police speed cameras. There are no gastos and rarely have we seen traffic police.

In the towns and villages stick to the limits, but in the nationals. Go for it . If you see a party of 9 fireblades of all ages flash your lights at us

    Have a great time

kin slower !!!!!!! you won't do ALL that blue route in a day mate !!!!!WTF you on a euro fighter jet ??

day one we do home to oban . which is a run up the M6 to Gretna. left towards dumfries up to AYR. then across towards the ernskine bridge towards loch Lomand. onto the Green Welly stop. then left to OBAN

DAY 2 Oban to fort william, down the A630 to Mallaig (please ride this road ) get a 20 min ferry to SKye. ride round skye at horrendous speeds on billiard smooth tarmac !!! head out of skye over the skye bridge, down the A87 to INvermorrison. pick up the A82 to inverness, ride along the banks of lochness

Day 3 inverness to ullapool (fantastic) up to Tounge .Acroos to Thurso .john o groats , back to Inverness.

Day 4 inverness to Granton on sprey, over the carnigorms, tomintoul Barmoral, perth Edingboro. lol we arrive in the city on Sat night, the freshers week !!!!!its fannytastic.

Day 5 head home usually out of edinboro down the A7 to hawick , penrith etc.

try keep your mileage to around 200 a day up there, gives you time to savour some of the area, Glen coe, ben nevis , just over skye bridge is the Eilean Donan castle, made famous in Highlander films etc when riding over the ski resorts. look out for Golden Eagles, fucking gi-normus birds to see in the wild. and there are lots of then up there

have fun I'm hoping the weather is good to

just looking at your night stops ! obviously depends what you like fort william is OK ! its full of hikers who talk all day about ben nevis the average fanny will be about 50 yr old .

ullapool is ok again its a fishing resort so the fanny stink of fish ,

WICK !!! no fanny there mate !!its all old scots who you can't understand in kilts , so don't bend over.

Braemar is a royalty village, really expensive again no fanny at all under 50 , its poss you may see KATE in Gordons Tea rooms ! she is gorgeous, she sometimes forgets to lock the door when she goes for a p*ss, but her bodyguards are huge ! one stands outside the cafe he must be 6ft 7 and 20 stone ! big bloke so don't try to cop off with her !

so you can see our route ?? OBAN loads of pissed up young scottish p*ss heads with big tits

Inverness loads of students all gaging for cock,ok ok the odd monster is around then Edinboro !!! well f*ck me if you dodnt cop of there you must be gay or cockless !!!

    have a top week .

I'll be going on the firestorm, might get a little boring on the ybr lol.

What is it like around loch lomond traffic wise? Thinking I might be better sort of going right at glasgow, M80, A84 and joining the A82 north of loch lomond, just imagine it being full of coaches and caravans.

    Like this - https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Walton+Summit+Road,+Preston&daddr=Fort+William&hl=en&ll=56.085064,-4.135666&spn=0.221445,0.617294&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=7.67522,19.753418&geocode=FSy9MwMdj53X_yk39WlMJHN7SDHa1W51vNIHIw%3BFWkAYwMdvhmy_ykbAxw3IzOJSDEhSFQI4z6gzQ&oq=Fort+William&t=h&mra=ls&z=11

when you have a taste of scotland mate your next trip will be europe. its like the scottish roads and scenery but with about 20 degrees more heat !!!

you are going at the best time of the year for roads ALL he caravans motorhomes grannies and granddads with their convoys of families will have left the area, they all return THIS coming saturday to have the kids back in school !! i know that from experience, when you get to fortwilliam , count the cars you see on the roads your on !!! there won't b many

it gets busy around Braemar if the junior highland games are on or around St andrews if there is a golf tournament on.

on our route we google the areas before we go to see what conflicts we may run into

for example we didn't do it in france in 2008 !!! we thought ......what the f*ck are all these pedal bikes doing !!! it was the Tour de france FFS !!! never again mate

Good call not going to Dumfries a bit boring and boring roads. You can get to Fort William in a day easy. 30m north towards Inverness is Fort Augustus worth a look.

Try to do Glencoe from the south it's awesome. Can I come too?
