Right, got my VFR400 NC30 last week and have been waiting for a battery and ignition barrel so I could try and fire her up.
Got them both today and all fitted on the bike.
So turned the key to on, all lights and electrics working fine, but then when I press the start button, nothing happens.
No click, no sound, no attempt at all for the bike to start.
Is there something really simple that I am missing?
Not got a clue about bikes really and my Haynes hasn't arrived yet so just seeing if anyone on here has an idea what it might be?
    Cheers

Start simple check all connections. If all electrics are working properly. Then check the starter motor connections might be worth unplugging and checking nothin is dirty or corroded

i don't have a clue about bikes tbh... but sometimes my bike will show all the lights, but if it isnt in gear or in neutral then the engine start button wont even make a noise unless i pull the clutch in... maybe try pulling the clutch in pressing the engine start then, its a longshot but all i can offer, sorry dude :/

If I had a clue where the starter motor was it would help haha
The Haynes should be here by the weekend, my abba stand is gonna be here soon to then I can get into it properly.

From what I can see it's under the headers. As u look at the engine at the bottom. Google it or YouTube if u don't have a bible

Try pulling the clutch in and make sure it's in neutral

Posted that before I read the other comments haha
Had a nc 30 myself and I'm sure you have to pull the clutch in for it to start

Tried with the clutch in, in gear out of gear etc, I'm assuming that as it isn't even clicking its not getting a signal to try to start, probably a loose connection somewhere but I'm crap with electrics, will wait for my Haynes and multimeter to turn up and have another pop at it.
I'd ask my dad but he's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to anything practical.

As said above have a look at the starter motor and make sure the contacts in the button are clean ie no corrosion

If you need the clutch in on these it could be the swich for that.
    Or a dodgy kill switch.
On the other hand if you bought it as non runner it could be that they have tried the simple stuff already.........

Might sound daft this but have you got all wires connected to the battery...I'm only saying because when I connected red and black to the battery on the gpx all the dash lit up but nothing would turn over after a day messing about I noticed another wire tucked under the frame what wanted to go on the battery and hey presto it turned over

Yeah all that came off are back on. Wondering if someone could have fitted an immobiliser at some point but I have no idea what it would look like

Did u buy it as a none runner? And if it has then the alarm box would be under seat and connected to the battery in some way

It's been hinted at, but is the kill switch set to the right position? We've all done it, lol

Other than that then the above advice is all good, begin at starter motor and check connections

    Live forever or die trying
