Never used or bought one before and large selection on ebay what do I look for? Prices range from 2 quid to 150 quid!! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Its initially to test my bike battery but if I could use it for future wire tests too on the bike. New too electrics!! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
For simple tests a fairly cheap one will do. if you use one for a living fluke is the norm. Ive had my fluke since i was an apprentice. 17 years on its still spot on. Thats the difference.
tbh theyve got some half decent basic testers in b&q i got a little one for a tenner for the bike toolkit. as long as it measures dc, ohms etc, which all multimeters do... dont need awt fancy for what youre doing.
Wicked thanks will pick one up tomorrow. Bikes sounded weak starting lately so ive charged bike battery on and off And optimate said its good. The lights glow brighter when bikes revved so hoping alternator is ok. Soon as I put battery back on today started first time. Plugs changed last November, leads on fine. Only other thing I can think off is regulator/rectifier but if I ready haynes manual on ignition it could be bloody allsorts!! Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I have had this one from Maplins for a few years i;s just the job for checking volage/continuiy,no need for profesional kit for checking the basics http://www.maplin.co.uk/ut-30b-digital-compact-multimeter-46498
Its a 97 honda but I thought when you rev it if the beam gets brighter that means the alternator is charging the battery? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
no it usually means the reg/rec is fuxored lol! get one ordered up. in fact, post a pic of yours cos ive got a few in the garage. is it a plug-in type like a kettle plug shaped connector or does it have 5 wires coming out of it? in fact what model is it and i'll tell u if ive got one, save u fkin about
lol posted at same time. yeh ive got one in the garage if u want it. the spare ive got is the older one same as yours - it works and will get you out the sh*t but ideally long term you need to get the later finned mosfet type as fitted to 03+ hondas. ie off a cbr125 as they seem to be going cheap. theres a brand new one on the vtr site atm for £24. well, there was - just looked and someones bought it. was in mcr as well :/
One small point, Always return the dial to read maximum volts ac (ie) mains to protect from damage after use!
