Fook me cant i groom a nice boy like him whats going wrong....................Must be losing me touch
UPDATE!! I can't get her started at all now the carbs just keep flooding and the spark plug is soaking wet because of it. What do I do is it now a case of paying someone to look at the carbs for me? Because that's the point I'm at...
Okay maybe it is worth draining the carb a little using the drain screw, use a container under the drain pipe to catch the petrol. Ensure the choke is off, in the down position before you try starting her. If that does not work check the plug for a spark by kicking it over whilst the plug is held against bare metal on the frame or engine. Get someone to check the spark whilst you kick it over, it is hard to do on your own. If there's no spark or the is weak the problem lies in the ignition but if the spark is a strong blue the issue is elsewhere. Make sure the black and white wire from the generator on the lh side of the bike to the coil under the tank is connected properly. There is a connection right above the rocker cover up against the frame and another nearby as it had for the coil. You may have disturbed them at some point.
I've tried all that the spark is fine and I gave the carb a tap and nothing came of it.. Anybody recommended a local mechanic who doesn't want me to take out mortgage to pay them?
Try with the choke off and WOT (Wide Open Throttle), this is after making sure the plugs are dry. Sounds like engine is flooded and apparently this works for most engines.
connor do you not know anybody competent enough to look at carb for you? its pretty easy to sort out to see if the floats free, jet is not blocked ect. bloke off here is near you and is a helpful chap i'm sure he would take a look at it for you
yep, defo say no when he asks you to have a look at his Patio ….and dont turn your back on him if he has a spade in his hand
So Carl rebuilt the carbs and sorted all that out but it still has trouble idling it won't start straight up and stay on, it only does this after a big ride where it has had a good long stretch, Carl said it could Be the points, any ideas??
Carls a top mechanic and a top lad,,id take his advice ….you can get "too much info " from loads of different angles and this will have you worrying even more..listen to what carl says and try to sort the prob from their ….It does sound like a fuel ? Timing issues..this will bring the points into play..have the gap checked on them ….incidentally when did the bike last have a proper service ? you should be aiming for at least once a year or every 6000 miles
