Because we have chaz with us and she is on L's we have to go round the bloody world...you will prob jump on the M/way
What pub in Worsley? I'm debating this one, will be 2 up also, bikes due its first service tho on Monday, means it'll probably be adding another 200 miles to it!
Will have to confirm with the others meeting there but the John Gilbert is right on the junction so easy to jump back on the motorway. Other than that there's a lay by outside the church or the bus lay by just off the roundabout basically underneath the motorway.
Right.. Here's the vital statistics... Because I'm being generous and I've kept the miles down to something reasonable for those heading up from the south a bit.... 9:30am departure from the Tickled Trout Services.... Thats Jn31 of the M6, Swanky looking petrol station.. So thats the time we're leaving, not the time you turn up, then fill up with petrol, have a brew.... We are then heading out on the A59 to Clitheroe.. We head through town and up into the hills to Slaidburn, then Bentham, Ingleton, and onto Devils Bridge where we'll have our first brew stop... We then head into the lakes via the main roads all the way across to Broughton in Furness, prob have a little break here, then up to Torver, Coniston, Ambleside (will do a fuel stop here as that will be about the hundred mile mark), then we'll pop down to the lakeside at Windermere.... This can be the main food stop decent break, even though we are over half way.. watch out for the swans and geese... they like ice creams and chips ... Then its out over to Kendal, over the tops and back down to Devils, which will probably be rammed at this point in the afternoon, so we'll skirt on buy and head to Caton brew stop instead (you dont have to pay for a pee here either).... Then from there we'll head out the back roads over Quernmore which can be alittle tight but good scenery, before finally popping out on to the A6 half a mile above the M55/M6 junction at Broughton.... At this point I will fondly bid you Adieu... Those who want to head out on to the motorway have easy access, and those who cant can head down through Preston town and on your merry way home.... From the Tickled Trout to the end as described is 167 miles... So not an epic journey but just enough to give the kids a treat.... Here's an overview of the route. As always look after each other... Don't leave a junction unless there is obviously someone marking it for the remaining riders behind you. If there are many people I will be pointing at turning spots where I would like the rider behind me to mark the junction for everyone else, rather than holding the whole group up.... I will not be going above speed limits in towns and villages, and will progress where safe to do so in national speed limits... There are some speed cameras on the big main road across to Broughton In Furness, so keep your eyes peeled for them. Where we are peeling off the main roads I will slow down and bunch the group up a little so everyone doesnt simply fly past.
