Martin, get you grass cut you scruffy get.
Or, if you can't be arsed, bring one of those sheep back from Wales......should fit in your throwovers as they sound f'kin massive.
You can keep it in the garden and introduce it to your favourite sock !!!!!

Where are you taking it Kev? Don't go to millenium they're crap and expensive, I take mine to Marriott in Birkenhead now, they're miles cheaper and much bettter as well. Everything seems to be badly adjusted after a service at millenium.

when we went to the ring few years back my friends brand new R1 with 1300 miles on broke down in calais ... he had not had an official yamaha service ..... so we call Yamaha out to have a look at the bike ,,,,,,,and Yamaha france turn up as expected the local frog dealer cudnt speak a word of eng-leeesh. but he got it out and said " I no toucha your bike, it not had service at 600 miles " so we fucked him off ..then a yamaha GB guy comes .This is now day 2, he says .cant touch that mate , its not got the std cans on and has no history of service !!!WTF !!! .so we had to leave him there with his bike ....on return three days later he is still there !!!

we rode home , picked up a van and brought the bike back ...took it st to wigan Yamaha who said one of the valves was bent !!! BRAND NEW BIKE FFS

so.........get it serviced and DONT go abroad without any euro cover for breakdown .....this includes scotland so make sure you have some get you home cover

My R1 is booked in next week for its 600 mile service with Streetbike in Halesowen - who originally supplied the bike.
    £40 in total.

    Yes Winky.
I got a quote from Wigan Yamaha and they were double.....as they never supplied the bike.
There is a scratch on the fairing which the dealer did during delivery, so they are replacing the panel at their expense.....just as well as its eyewateringly expensive for a piece of coloured plastic with a sticker on it.

Winky, interesting point you make about the importance of service schedules and dealer stamps in the maintenance log (and the manufacturers database) and how anal they can become if things arn't to their satisfaction.....especially in the case you mentioned with the non OEM end cans fitted.

If folk buy new or within the warranty period they should factor in the cost and importance of following the manufacturer/service programme....its part of the deal.

Your mate being refused support twice and left stranded abroad, especially when the problem is down to the manufacturer is a bloody disgrace....so follow the programme and don't give them an excuse to wiggle out.

    Here endeth the sermon.

    thats exactly what happened Graham.

Yamaha France would not touch the bike due to it having no std cans on , they blamed the "fuelling fault !!!!" on this . So..When we told Yamaha GB ,they looked into it and spoke to France ,who gave there opinion. Yamaha GB came through the tunnel and would not touch the bike saying exactly the same as the Frog Guy !!!! No first service, Non Std cans so Warranty invalid...

The fun and games started when the bike was returned to Wigan..where the Mechanic found a bent valve, this was the cause of the problem .............

It was all sorted amicably .apologies form Yamaha etc. but it goes to show if you invalidate that warranty , they have grounds to refuse to do any work.

When i go anywhere ..i make sure i have the very basic..get me home cover....from an external source..AA RAC etc

you dont wana be be screaming the nuts of the bike in the very remote area of Glen Coe, and it breaks down ....the wolves will eat you ....

Indeed. Checked with the RAC when I first bought my bike and yes, it's covered.....as it's me that's the member not the bike.
This also provides cover for the vehicle I happen to be in at the time of a breakdown, even if I am a passenger!!!
Only exception is if the breakdown is nervous.
