I want to book a track day at Outlon Park, does anyone want to join me?
SUT I want to see you on a track, I reckon you will tear it up!

Oh yeah the reason for the track day is I have one booked late July when my mates from the South are coming up, they are quicker than me so I would like a bit of practise so I can keep up.

    :) I would love to.

But......... I'm a little concerned about my work situation at the moment. So am reluctant to spend too much.
How much is it? And when?

And some questions to the forum:

    1. How do they test your exhaust for noise levels? (distances, revs, environment etc.)
    2. Can I insure my bike for a track day?
    3. Can I insure myself for a track day?

    1. Various places around the circuit. Just use noise measuring equipment. Your can not road legal with the baffle in? Just take it with you, if they complain, fit the baffle

    2. I couldnt find anywhere to do so. You can rent a bike, but that costs about £150 for the day, and the one i saw was R6's, which u will find slow. :0

    3. No, but NHS will sort you out. :)

As a side note I may come along for the ride. My last track day ended in A&E. :)

Think they tested my mates bike at Silverstone running 2/3 full revs at a distance of 1 metre from the exhaust. You can always phone the track up and ask how they do it.

i'd be up for a track day.

I just lost my job today though. I'll be using my own bike. I just need to book it.

If you are using your own bike, then if you want to insure it, you might want to get track day insurance. But I believe it is not worth it as the excess is quite high (at least £800). Regarding insuring yourself. You may struggle to find insurance that will cover you at short notice, however you can get accident insurance.

    In regards to noise regs.

The exhaust is tested 1metre away at a 45degree angle... my zx7r passed so im sure yours will too lol (with baffle ofc)

(warming up your engine before the test allows for less noise)

1000cc's are tested at 5500 revs if i remember correctly. I think vtwins are slightly lower.

750cc and under are tested at 7000 revs

Some pretty loud bikes passed the sound testing! A Honda SP1 with straight through Harris pipes passed in the morning then failed mid session and he had to put standard cans back on.

Trackday insurance is around, some woman was mithering me about it at the Hottrax day! Think it covers both the bike and you.

    28th july deffo doin this!
when they tested ours it was weird, they just stuck this long metal rod with the tester attached to it and said rev it to 5.5k rpm im sure it wasnt the correct way as i've read its tested different but mine passed at 95db and it was a quite day of 102db limit
its 105db on the 28th though

Yeah MiniP, I'm sorry about you doing a track day! Ha Ha

Back to the orignal question then lads, anyone up for doing Oulton Park before 28th July?
There are still a few dates from now until then, I'm very keen but just need some competition.

PS: I ride tracks with all original body work and lights so I'll be going in the novice group as I have no intention of binning my bike.
