Sunday 1st August - Lake District/Hartside Top/Devils Bridge

Route

Preston -> Windermere -> Kirkstone Pass (Ullswater) -> Penrith -> Hartside Top (Alston) -> Shap -> Kirkby Lonsdale (Devils Bridge) -> Caton -> Preston

All pretty epic and largely deserted. Particularly brilliant is the Kirkstone Pass, the Penrith-Alston Road to Hartside Top and the A6 from Penrith to Kendal. Fantastic biking roads. I bet most here have never ventured to Hartside Top - it's a must!

Setting off from Tickled Trout, Junction 31 M6 at 10am sharp. Should be back for 6pm or so.

Never too far from the M6 if anyone wants to get home earlier. The first 40 miles from Preston, and the last 30 miles back to Preston will be motorway so no 125s I'm afraid.

Ironman. You should just ride round rivington to various spots to support me killing myself riding 112 miles on a pushbike then running a marathon (assuming i finish the 2.4 mile swim)
forget the lakes. rivington is where it will be epic on August 1st

(oh...if you do go the lakes avoid rivvi as a meeting place after 8am...cause all the road will be closed for us nutters)

no she didnt , it was my mistake after she posted worst day of her life and someone posted they would look after her bike I thought maybe she had come off but it's vertigo and according to face book she is likely to be unable to ride for a few weeks and she is feeling pretty ill
