something a bit different

this is my new project..its a ghost 250 pit bs..i will just say the the engine is sweet and the wheels are straight.i have already stripped and welded the frame and started to refurbish some parts and buy some bits n bobs ..cos its a chinky piece of crap the parts are dead cheap...tank 15 quid..rear caliper with pads 15 quid delivered new

 

half the text was missing on me first post ..probably cos the pics are so big..any whoo its in a sorry state.the frame is cracked at the subframe and swingarm pivot..thats the first thing i got sorted..my plan is to do a full restoration and custom rebuild.then make it road legal...should be fun

 

Ned that thing looks freakin EVIL haha. 250cc 4T engine, hmmmm, what we talking ... 15 or 20 bhp ??

just want to get it ridin a nd lookin good...i did think about a turbo....maybe if i can find one small enough..did you buy your pit bike already legal?

 

Yes mate you can pick them up for a couple of hundred quid, you can buy them new from certain places aswell

 

got the wheels painted and new bearings..front one needs a new disc which is ordered...7 quid.... feakin ace....wheel bearings 3 quid delivered..if only all bikes were this cheap for bits..bit upset about the rear tyre ebay special where the tread was different from pic

 

Looks sound there mate. Just one thing your weld looks a little undercut on the first pic????

 

does undercut mean the welds are shallow?..its not me doin the weldin unfortunately..my weldin skills suck arse..i just take to me mate and tell him what i think is best....the tube you can see the end of was just tacked in place from new,
and the frame plate had cracked so the crack was tigged up then a big washer welded over the crack as a gusset then some reinforcing on the inside...its not a very prity piece but its a lot stronger than before.....i was told the steel the frame is made of is crud which doesnt help.it will be interesting to see how all the components hold up hauling my fat arse around

 

Undercut is we're when your welding and were your doin your fillet weld melts the tube and you don't fill it enough as you have had your Amps on too high or not goin fast enough the top of the weld is shy of metal as its gone into the pool I would go over it again as its not as strong as say your pipe is 2mm thick you have melted half of that away with undercut. That's pic is the one.

f*ckin great...its all painted aswell...i am goin to rebuild it as is...just keep an eye on it for cracks..whats the worst that can happen.

been dead bizzy today.its the last day of me paternity leave so i made good use of the time and put loads of bits together.

 

the rear shock turned out well . after a short blast in the dish washer..(the wife found out and yes,, she hit the roof but theres no gain without sacrafice).sprayed the silver bit and put new bushes and a sticker..like new..got a nearly new fmf can of ebay for 55 quid..bargain..the rolling shassis looks awesome cant wait to spray the engine and throw it in

 

You may have started a trend here I'm thinking mini supermoto fun at 3 sisters are they all road legal n shit Ned ?

i spent a while wundering what the next project would be..i almost whent for a monkey bike but i am big boned..then i thought.. cafe racer..but this bike cost me f*ckall and just seemed right..the best thing is they are so easy to put together..i have seen a couple of road legal pit bikes at the scotchy and they look like a hoot to ride..this is like a 3/4 size.its amazin how little you need to do to a bike to mke it road legal..tyres .horn .reflector..done

 

I've been looking online brand new 160 motard versions with 18hp 840mm seat height fully adjustable suspension programmable ignition twin exhaust £800 so there must be loads 2nd hand for peanuts

looking good, you can also get road legal midi moto's, like mini moto's but bit bigger and easier to ride

NED thats awesome !! Daz maybe onto sommet here too, thatd be mint round 3 sisters. Suprised at how well its looking and you've done a brill job with that black frame and all the bits on it. bars look mint too
