Jaffa, if you feel the forum is worth saving then save it all I ever see is you moaning about other people take the bull by the horns and start organising a rideout or a meet put something positive back into it instead of bitching

Cabin fever kicking in again? How many members will we lose this winter to petty arguments and disagreements based on semantics ? Non I hope. Should have be called the "Satan Run"
Some young gun will be along soon with daft questions about his Christmas present and we'll all be making out we're wise and technically gifted. Oh it's so self gratifying! Ha ha Merry Christmas NWBers one and all.

If you turned up, had a good time and threw a few quid in then fair play to you. The nwaa is better off because of you and thats great.

If you turned up and couldnt be bothered to donate then you need to have a think.
    Cos thats pretty fuckin poor.

You cant go slagging off everyone as a collective though saying they didnt donate enough as a whole.

well with the self gratification comment was aimed at me(obviously) alomg with the take aways(probably) its not something i wanna get.into with you.....or anyone else but i could take a guess that iv given more than that amount.on me own without need for advertising it And i will continue giving for a very worthy cause.

I comparing the amount that was wasted on the bullshit dressing up and riding the bike was added to the actual donation instead of being wasted on shit the figure would have been a whole lot bigger. However some people are so starved of attention they feel the need for self gratification.

Im dissapointed that you would write this, I never thought of myself as misunderstood. The trouble is im not misunderstood its the fact that people dont like just hearing the cold blunt truth and

I teach children to cherrish honour loyalty and respect. And if the pursuit of this is the fact im gobby........then guilty as charged

    Moz,

You mentioned self gratification so I felt I needed to respond. Basically because self gratification wasn't my motivation. Most of us were out for a bit of honest fun for a good cause.

When I referred to takeaways i was thinking of my life style. Probably 3 times a week minimum and its definately not needed or sensible so a luxury that maybe should be reduced. It's probably a common thread amongst us older blokes. Spoil ourselves with what we did without as a kid.

I'm not interested by who gives to charity or how much. It's all very personal and we all have our own ways of helping others.

Take your point about more time and money spent on doing the event than the charity received and that this might be a way for some to get attention; although fun was clearly the biggest motivator.

I'd say most people and definitely most bikers are guilty of attention seeking and self gratification. I'd also add selfishness to some degree. It's a lovely feeling to go past a car in a big row of santas lol; or go under a bridge and pop the exhaust, then get a reaction or to wind up a bloke in a big flash car worth 50k plus. It's also great when you mod your bike or do some work on it and you get that feeling of pride, especially when someone notices your efforts. I also spend my spare money on bikes when I could spend it more wisely. But I earnt it so my choice. It's also selfish of me to get on my bike when I know my wife and daughters are worrying about me everytime I do. (My boys aren't so worried.) And it don't help when someone tells the mrs what we got up to lol.

Bottom line is I love riding motorbikes (even if I'm not very brave or very good at it) and it's my release from the pressures around me.

I respond like I did earlier in this thread because I hate it when people don't appear to want to let others be. As a kid I had a rough time with mental cruelty. Luckily for me it made me stronger. Ever since then I've spent all my life voicing out when I see anything that could upset others. Soft I know... but its what i am. Just like you've got to say what you think even if it's painful for others.

As iv mentioned before in several places im sure. I have no problem with anyone the people im close with off here know im honest, and.loyal because if i wasnt.none of the shit would have come about......not with me anyway within the first several posts of this thread several people who think they know about things instantly assumed the wrong thing..........
I wouldnt dare to say that all the guys who went on the ride used it for self gratification but i can fuckin guarantee i kmow several that did.
