They had people crafting them like them bloke at the bike show at NEC. They will probably be at most bike shows if anyone wants a pair
Rob is right, your hearing can be irreparably damaged by wind noise around your helmet. I know I should wear earplugs, I should have worn them for the last thirty years working around race cars. The trouble is that I just feel so "disconnected" with earplugs in and suffer from lack of concentration. Not a good situation when riding or racing
What?did someone say something.....I am going deaf,I think I have tinitus,I have a high pitch whistle in my ears all the time.Definately to do with wearing no ear plugs wile touring on the bike and years of loud cans.
How much do they cost? I'm rather tempted! I sometimes come back after a long ride out with my ears ringing like when I've been playing the guitar too loud
i feel naked without earplugs when riding. i wear them all the time when at work so is no biggy for me... they do take some getting used to though and can cause a bit of discomfort after 4hrs or more but its better than a lifetime of deafness. my hearing is fkt with 30 years working in noisy environments but i still wear them. i find i can concentrate better with all the background noise removed - can still hear the engine and everything around me but the wind noise is massively reduced. i just use disposable soft plugs.... i pick them up from work, a couple of different types. if anyone wants to try some just ask when we're out on a ride cos i always carry a pocketfull of new ones :
RobJ knows ! Im like Benny, worked in loud industries since leaving school and always worn ear defenders/plugs but in my own time when i dont have to i.e on the bikes - i dont. Being tested yearly through work has highlighted my hearing has fractionally decreased (Pardon!?) since last year. been told i should be wearing them which from this year onwards i will be doing. you only get one set of eardrums
woops, back on topic, if you really wanted to you could drill out the holes in the baffle slightly bigger but obviously if anything went wrong you'd have to buy another for mot time. and drilling holes fractuionally bigger than before is never as easy as drilling a fresh one so be warned lol, always bites and messes the hole up. If your silencer (sorry didnt see what bike it was) is bolted on via a flange you could make a plate to sandwich between this joint and experiment with various size holes to get the right sound for you. It'd need setting up though for optimum power/fuelling
Thanks, it is a stret triple and has been remapped to suit the Arrows with or without baffles so somewhere Inbetween should be okay. I have taken the baffles out and will drill a few more holes in them at work tommorow and see what difference it makes
yep, i'd personally be happy with that. remember though it may not sound 'that' much different as you progressively drill them due to the relatively small changes but it will come eventually. good luck and let us know how it goes
have you thought about making a claim for industrial deafness mate????? an old workmate i know got 40 grand i cant do it yet cos i dont want to lose my offshore ticket, but defo will before i pack it in.
Its not done that much damage dude, they just noticed a tiny drop in score from my usual perfect result when i did my last test. the woman asked if i did anything noisey without earplugs, said mx and road riding and she said i should be wearing earplugs for them. If it had damaged it i'd have taken them to the cleaners lol. I'd rather have my hearing than money though !
RESULT !!! Increased the amount of holes in the baffles from six to ten and I have almost got the result I was looking (listening) for. Bike sounds much better without being anti social
