I'd deffo get that checked out mate, I've seen headers glow on the dyno when they're being held at rpm's but never the can, that doesn't look normal to me but I'm no expert. Did Pete do it for you? Show him the picture you posted on here mate, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to help, best to be safe dude than break your engine. Glad the testing went well too, let us know how you get on mate.
Were not having a go sean just trying to help ive only ever seen that happen when a bike runs lean at high revs. Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
I know that your not having a go pal and neither is anyone else. Just letting you know that the cause was the heat wrap. It was obviously making the exhaust reach excessive temps as it was insulated. Just left it on the headers that are local to the rad, everything else is as normal.
ask kev what mine was like when i pipe banged the headers off lol.... both cans were ike that after a run from hawes to the tap at ***+mph cans are now fkt & need repacking. got so hot it melted the weld off the perforated tube in the left can. best off having it on the rich side right at the top end. wouldnt be a problem on an injected bike but on a carbed engine it cant possibly get more fuel in than the jet will allow. see what it's like after the next session m8 but i reckon you could do with going up a size or 2 on the mains for safety's sake.
That's great if that's what it was mate dead easy fix all I meant was that exhaust wrap shouldn't do that. You'll know for sure Tuesday and then your minds at rest, I might pop down if I get 10 mins
