at the end of the day you should think how much a full system like an akrapovic would set you back you could run your bike without a new map or power commander but I wouldn't recommend it I would go for the dyno & ecu reflashed with a new map
If you do what MickR6 posted and cut the collector off and get the mufler box eliminator i have a link pipe and stubby can for an R6 you could have cheap, its for earlier model but should be same size fitment. Oh and if your not too sure on doing it, if you buy the eliminator and come down mine at some point ill give you a hand doing it
Most good dyno & bikeshops will do ecu reflashing with a new fuel map which is just as good as a standard power commander unless you pay the extra for the auto tune box as well its easy & cheap for bikeshops to do as there's a lot of free ecu software out now but on my old gsxr they used a yoshi box to remap the ecu & most suzuki dealers can do this not 100% sure on the yamaha but shouldn't be a problem
There are only a few ecu's that can be reprogrammed as far as im aware yamaha is nit one of them. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Just take my route and shove a screwdriver down there and smash the baffles out. Worked a treat. That said I'm booked into MTC for a nice loud pipe
