Well i had done this rebuild over a year it is finished now but i will put everything up here of what i have done with pictures for you
Although i say its finished i still have many plans for it lol

Here we go im just copy and pasteing from 400 forum:

Well after messing about with other bikes and tryin to find another i like apart from the nc23 i have decided to sell my fireblade and put all the money into rebuilding my baby.

Plans i have for it are going to be:

    Full stainless steel system
All new fairings in repsol colours
    Powder coated wheels in orange
Brake callipers in the same orange
    New chain and sprockets
New fork oil and dust seals
Polished swingarm, levers, foot levers, yokes, heel plates, and anyu other bits i can polish.
Dyno jetted and set up properly
    Silicone hoses
Few other bits like side light wires, engine casings, mirrors, screen and any thing else i can think of as i go along lol.
If any one can help me out with bits that i might needs please would be very much appreciated, even if it not on the list i have done just ask and ill let you know if im needing it

ill be taking plenty of pics while im doing it and will be putting them up as i go along.
if you forgot what mine looks like here is how it looks at the moment

Well just ordered my new fairings!
    http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Yes they are the ones from hong kong lol will see how they are when i get them

decided to go for the movistar ones instead of repsol, as alot of ppl have repsol colours now and i want to be different lol

will get pics of them up when i recieve them and pics of me fitting them and how they fit.

    Others bits i ordered:
    anodised fairings bolts
    anodised screen bolts
    and anodised short race levers

    Thanks
    Adam

    Well my fairings came today
never ran so fast in my life, straight to the parcel force van haha.
Im very pleased with the finish on the panels, the only thing im not happy about is the rear light sorround its not erm the best finish i have seen so im going to be re spraying it myself i think.
There is only a few of the holes need drilling to fit from the looks of it.
    Here's some pics:
    Left hand lower panel
    [IMG]
    Top fairing
    [IMG]
    Mud guard
    [IMG]
    Right hand lower fairing
    [IMG]
    V piece
    [IMG]
    Rear light bottom piece
    [IMG]
This part im not happy about, rear light sorround
    [IMG]
    Right hand seat fairing
    [IMG]
    Left hand seat fairing
    [IMG]
    Left hand upper fairing
    [IMG]
    Right hand upper fairing
    [IMG]
Free gift screen, very good material too same as original
    [IMG]
    Another free gift, tank pad
    [IMG]
    Headlight sorrounds
    [IMG]

So now i need to get the colour matched up so i can spray the tank and rear mud guard and rear light sorround again lol.
Cant wait to start fitting it.
    pics to follow

    Adam

well i decided to put the fairings on today, because my fairing and screen bolts arrived
took a few hours, was quite suprised the sid eand front fairings went on perfect no problems at all and line up perfect with no gaps,
Then the rear fairings now they were a pain in the a**e i managed to get the side fairings on and straight with not much touble, then the light sorround annoyed me a bit and had to have a brew and a think lol.
So after taking a couple of the tags off and bolting it all in place i got it kind of straight, still need a bit of tinkering will have it perfect by this weekend though while i spray the tank
    Here are the pics

I dont know what ppl are on about when they say the finish on there kits is cra*p
to me the finish looks absolutely awesome mirror finish and no imperfections, i love it

Just need to spray the tank and do a few more bits to her and she will be showroom condition.
More pics to follow over the weekend.

    Adam

Well decided to use sunday to tidy up the plastics on my bike.

can just see my hrc pipe on this one
    [IMG]

New chain and sprocket in next couple of days then just need wheels powder coating

    Adam

i see what everyone means now about the rattling at 5grand with stainless steel systems.
but its nothing really only rattles for a second or so doesnt bother me

with the stubby can on it sound awesome, its made it deeper and louder than it was before, and it was very loud before lol, crm will vouch for that haha.

Just need to get laquer to spray the tank, then spray sub frame, going to need a whole engine casing and bottom end (hopefully wozzer is helping me out), get my spare ported and polished head, get it set up properly with the right jets and float heights, mixture screws etc. then powder coat the wheels.

Will be looking good, making good progress not much left to do now and only been doing it bout 3-4 weeks

    Adam

Well here is an update, seen as my bike got nicked the other week and i got it back (luckily) i was riding it round for a week and then it broke down, replaced the reg/rec started up then started pissing out oil all over the floor

So i have completely stripped the bike and its now in my computer room nice and warm waiting till i get money to get an engine off of (abrmoto)'s mate first week in november hopefully.

On the upside this does give me the chance to sort everything out, ill be sending off the tank to be sprayed within the week, and im going to strip the wheels to get them ready to spray, oh and i need to rebuild the front callipers cause there a bit sticky lol.

Here is how she stands at the mo looking a bit worse for ware lol
    [IMG]
engine, blown head gasket, burnt valve heads, scortched cam lobes, threaded clutch cover casing threads she seen better days poor girl
    [IMG]
can see my hrc res on this lol
    [IMG]
tank being sent off for spray and wheels are gettin sanded tomoz
    [IMG]
the rest of it is in the corner till i get round to it, sub frame is getting sanded and sprayed, fairings are brand new so dont need to do nothing lol
    [IMG]

Well hopefully she will be done by middle of next month, might keep her off road over winter though as i have my car driving test on 4th november and will have a car for winter, depends how badly i want to get out on her lol

    will keep updating with pics

    Adam

Bit of an update today, i went and got my new engine last night came with a frame with the v5
Going to spray the back wheel today then the wheels will be ready to go back on, just need to spray the tank and then can start building her back up with the new alarm lol.

Will probably have plenty of spares when i have finished like frame and v5, 2 x swing arms, front forks, tank, 2 x cylinder heads (1 is ported and polished), plenty of engine parts, and any other bits that i find

Ive got a few pics for you all, been cleaning things up, wheels are now finished ready to go on, just getting engine ready now

front wheel painted and ready to go on
    [IMG]
little movistar sticker under the laquer to finish the touch
    [IMG]
here is my new engine, and the frame it came in which will be going spare
    [IMG]
here is the back wheel being stripped ready for paint, oh and my old engine in bits getting that ready to strip and sell the bits that are ok
    [IMG]

    another update with pics.
Got the wheels on today and the engine in and hooked up ready for a quick test to see if it turns over alright then compression test time and fire her up

    here is wheels on
    [IMG]

cracking build that m8 well done :)

saved another classic from the breakers there, fair play to you :)

know what you mean with the chinky fairings... people just throw them on and expect oem fit.
you have to take your time & fit them proper & theyre good as standard.
    looks the part that

Cheers mate, the bike was in a bit of a state when i first got it, most of the fairings were held on with tie wraps and all the lugs were broke, engine was buggered, exhaust was rotten, wheels were un balanced and tires had slow puntures, chains and sprockets were well gone and loom was really bad.

Yeah alot of people expect them to fit straight away then moan that there having to mod them lol, saying that the only part that i had to mod was the light surround everything else was pretty snug.

    petrolhead19 VIP Member VIP Member

Well its going to be getting stripped again at some point, going to make a brand new harness for it with better grade wires, sub frame needs a coat of paint as does the screen brace, engine covers need spraying the original gold so do the front callipers, fork lowers are getting resprayed, wheels are going to be powder coated instead of painted, brembo rear brake and braided hose, brembo front brakes (if i can find some), engine block is gonna be cleaned and painted same with the head, head will be ported polished and skimmed with new valves buckets shims etc, oversized piston kit to take it to a 440cc, race slipper clutch, carbs overhauled ported etc, new front and rear discs, quick action throttle, cbr6 ohlins rear shock.

Thats all i can think of right now lol, people say to me why spent so much money on an old 400, my reply "why not im not getting rid of it and by the time i have finished with it this will be a rare classic and worth alot of money" :D

Already had people offer me 3-4k for it but i cant bring myself to sell it lol

Fantastic rebuild, write up and photos.I was gutted when I read she had been stolen and glad you got her back.Worth every penny in my oppinion,a bloke in my work spends 6k on fags and booze a year....WTF,each to their own I suppose but if I had any spare cash I would love to buy a classic and do her up.Well done Adam and I hope to see her in the flesh this year.

Yeah the day she got stolen was a very bad day for me, woke up to phone call saying it had been found and i didnt even know it had been stolen, looked out the window and i just started crying while on phone to the police, was so scared going to pick it up shaking and crying wondering what state it was going to be in, but turned out not too bad 10 mins of putting spares on and it was fixed :D.

Funnily enough i have nearlly another full one of these in my boiler cupboard in bits lol.
And sure i will be back out on her again soon, just had to spend another £300 on her on boxing day :(, cut a long story short my own fault right hand fairing lugs repaired with plastex went down dual carriageway hit 60mph right hand fairing flew off and smashed on my leg.
Down side couldnt get just the right hand fairing in these colours so had to get full new kit.
Soon as the kit is on ill probably be down my usual spots, southport pier, rivvy barn and st annes. although i will try some other spots this year.

    Sorry for the essay lol

After the work done it makes it harder to sell, with it being quite a long project too. KEEP IT :) for a while at least. Until you realise that your knees cant handle it being so small :/

Oh and it looks awesome

dont think ill ever get rid of it to be honest mate, it was my first big bike when i passed my test and had it ever since.
I have had blades and gizzers and i still go back to this one lol.

It is a bit harsh to ride because im 6 foot 3 lol but its worth the pain lol
