9/10 it's a confidence thing. You need to be sure you can drop the bike onto your knee and the rest will come. Just find a proper empty roundabout and stick it in 3rd

And please don't get your actual knee down lol
Some of the guys will get that one :p

Eveyone has given you some good pointers there really, so if you want to know what I do read futher (if not stop here).

Like Daz said it is very important that you warm your tyres up, do this by going round the roundabout a good few times or generally warm them up on a good road.

Once you have got your tyres nice and warm forget about stretching that knee out and wanting to get your knee down. I know that it sounds silly but you will over try and your body positioning will change preventing you from getting that knee down.

So start by telling yourself to relax your arms and generally be gentle on the bike, you dont need a lot of force to counter steer.

    Here we go then:

    • Get your bum off the seat so that you are sitting with the edge of the seat inbetween your bum crack.
    • Lock your left knee into your tank and make sure that you have good purchase
    • Open your hips up towards the corner
    • Now before you extend your right knee out to a 90 degree angle, try and let go of the left handle bar. If you cannot you are not positioned right
    • Increase your speed every pass, but rememeber to relax, drop your shoulders and look around your mirror as this action will automatically make your whole body move over. If you are stiff you will end crossed up. It is very important that you keep your body parallel to the bike. (you dont need to go any faster than 30mph to get that knee down mate.
      • Increase the lean angle by counter steering and lean as far off as comfortable (you dont need to be like a monkey hanging of a swing)
      • Most of all believe in those tyres.

      Good luck.

Well you have a lot to go off and digest.

Here's another one of me from Sundays Mini Twins race, have a look through the d-px web site at all the different racer pictures and you will see load of different techniques and body positions. There is no one single position.

The plan was to race the Monster in the power twins it had a 996 engine but I wasn't quick enough. So I sold it to fund a mini twin, the bike in the pic is a 600SS a little 48bhp twin with a 1098 fairing. So at the moment I have no road bike but would like one as I miss it.
