I got my fork lowers powdercoated.. But when i got them back he seems to have sandblasted them all over even on the inside...! The powdercoat job isn't great tbh, probably wouldn't use them again. Whats the general consensus on this? When i run my finger on the inside of the fork im left with a chalky residue on my finger.. Degreaser on a rag wrapped around a broom stick to clean it out?
Sandblasted the Inside … WTF..you sure its not just over blast from the outside? defo needs cleaning out as it will play havoc with the fork oil/ Springs/ seals etc…take em back and tell them to clean em out
What should they feel like inside? Smooth as a babies arse? Ive never gone out my way to feel inside one before..?
I'm with you on this , Not fingered a fork stanchion either !!! But I would say they need to be smooth around the top for the fork seal to bed and not leak…they will however have to be very clean inside , so your idea of a rag on a broom stick makes sense. Id defo ask the guy though why he blasted the inside !!!
I leave that to Ian Watkins tbh, but I value your post, I did laugh Should they be super shiny polished up? Or just smooth metal? Ive cleaned them up inside and there is no chalky reminisce when i use my finger when I run a white cloth it comes out super clean..
Perhaps next time I do fork seals on my other bike ill dip a finger in.. Tbh putting a super white microfibre cloth in and then out again on a broom and its clean, i think its alright.. Shining a torch down, it looks smooth, so im just going to go ahead and start putting them together.. Once the wheels are on and its back on the ground ill take some more pics
The frame is holographic flake: Ignore the chipped cam cover, i dropped something on it, and I'm going to redo it at some point
Renthal bars fitted. Removing it from the bench tomorrow morning and fitting wheels, it should look more bikey then. Then gotta refit carbs and do all the wiring. I love wiring though Ill take some pictures tomorrow
Done some more work fitted a throttle cable and a clutch cable from a hornet. Waiting for my braded front lines. Few bits to tidy up, and mirrors to add. Gonna lower the headlights abit too after looking at that picture i think..!
Do you have leaky oil seals hence the shock dust protectors as most station are not allowed to touch them lol
I changed the oil seals they are brand new They are there because I had them lying around lol! But thats nice to know.. Lol, ta smudge..!
