Yeah great turnaround ,,,,you should keep tabs on the expenditure to see what the total cost was and compare that to actually buying one already fit for use on the road

Nicely done indeed... I wish I had the confidence (and patience) to take one apart and rebuild it like that. I guess even if it's cost you a little more short term, it'll save you on bills if you ever need to repair anything, and it'll also mean a lot more to you than if you had just bought one from a shop

If you ever work out how much it's cost you it would be interesting to know just out of curiousity, but either way nicely done :)

Excellent bike those 500s. SOld my last one with 89,000 miles on it and it still hooned along.

If you are looking for another project tap up Rock Steady. Offer him a PX for his+£500. It will be cheap for him, his 600 will get the attention it deserves and he still won't be able to ride the 500 to it's full potential.

I would say costs including the bike would come to around £1,100 ish lol. The main reason was to learn how to do the basics on a bike I didn't do the chain due to not having a tool and the powder coating everything else I did. Biggist bitch is always threaded bolts or snapped ones! Typically you can pick up a cb for 500 for an average one to around £1300 for a low mileage good condition one. Mines got 48,000 on the clock so it's only mid life really.

That's a good mileage! There's a lad on a cb forum who's got 120 on his lol they seem to go forever just the bits round them that need doing!

I could get a good estimate if I go back through my purchases but I reckon 1,100 to 1,300 max I've spent which is more than its probably worth. But on a good side when I get something else I'll have a good idea on keeping it on the road. Maybe I should keep it another 10 years the really old cb's are going for a round 2,500 grand!!

Looks stunning, where did you get the cover from? Did you do it yourself?

Seat cover I got of some German company on ebay they do all bikes I think. Cover cost £45 I think. They do fit them but my works had a powered stapler so I had ago after numerous you tube vids lol. Took me about an hour.

Thanks for the positive feedback I had to buy another radiator the other day due to a stone or something cracking it but I'm just glad to be back on the road. Far too hot to use a car lol ill keep that for the kids ha.

You inspired me with the seat, went and got one made for my cbf! Matching dolphin blue piping/stitching and embroidered Honda logo! Cheers for the kick up the arse!

Are you fitting it? If so let me know ill borrow the stapler from work if you need it but could only lend it to you for the day because they use it daily. They look great my brothers get one for his zx9 you will have to get some pics up!

Yeah i'm fitting it myself, i've got a gun but its not the best, it could barely manage the yzf seat so i'll take you up on that! I'll let you know when it arrives and i'll shoot up! Should only take 10 mins to fit
