    Ha
ha ha ha but they forget to use loctite, so everything just vibrates off , I doubt it be top quality WP. Stuff lee , just a basic spring with the WP label on , but you knew that any way ! Do you really think the XJRS have ohlins on ? Maybe it's something yo do with Yamaha buying the most stakes in ohlins company around that time ! Nice stickers though !

I agree in not the most knowledgeable person. you've got me on that. only meant as a bit of banter :). No offence was meant.

ive been looking into the brand as have been considering a Duke 390 or rc (and still am) once I pass. a few sites (mostly about the supermoto and offroad bikes) pointed towards issues on brand new bikes like loose spokes, loose chain slider bolt, ceasing chain adjuster bolts, loosening bolt on the chain guide, loosening sprocket bolts and ceasing linkage bolt to name a few.

Now i don't know If all of the above applies to the dukes and rc's but I'd imagine the build quality to be the same. I dont see any of the above to be a downfall of ktm quality... Just highlights to me the importance of maintainance and checking torque settings.

Your not allowed to buy one.....EVER!!!!!
    Lol.
The sd was built in austria.
The 390s are being built in india.
    May explain things.
My sd has been brilliant. Apart from the clutch slave shitting itself.....ahem.
Now my 690 was different. Loctite was my best friend.
But thats more to do with being a big single........built by ktm.......

The header are titanium and everyone knows titanium is cool

only reason I am asking after a link pipe is because I have my eyes on a 2012 GSX-R super bike can if it doesnt work out I will look else where with possible link pipe

Thats why I said I would get it set up for me and my riding so I can see if I can exploit or justify spending more on a shock etc

Braided lines are going to be a given mod come Easter and depending how they preform will decide weather or not to go for the master cylinder

No I just want to be cool lol

I love how KTM spec their bikes out with top of the range kit and think more manufactures should take their lead but right now I need a bike to use all year round but maybe later I might have an RC8R

See what I mean I need my bike to work all year round for the foreseeable future anyway so I might as well make it the best bike I can make it for that time

id contemplate running a KTM as a second bike ,,it would be a winter bike though ....do they not have good reports from the winters Lee?

I wouldnt run any decent bike through the winter.
Either watch them decay or devote yourself to washing it every day.
    Fuck that.
Give me a cheap runabout fot the salty season.
Oh and to answer the original question I honestly wouldnt know.
But curiously ive just fitted a new pair of levers. The originals made it to this summer in immaculate condition. Then for some reason the brake lever has gone minging in a couple of places. But the clutch is still as new.
The rest of the bike is in excellent nick. Which isnt bad for nearly 7 years old and used in wet weather.
    Not a single corroded bolt.

    Nah.
If im working days ive been up since 5am. Done a 12hr shift, got in about 7. Spent precious little time with my kids, cooked tea. So maybe at about 9 or 10 I can wash the bike? Fuck that.
The cbr gets a wash maybe once a week, maybe once a month. Forks are flaking, some bits are rusting, it fell over and scraped the fairings. I snapped the tail fairing in two removing In cold weather (stitched with tie wraps) but every morning it starts and takes me to work. Perfect.

thats a perfect winter machine...i wouldnt even repair the marks etc, id just leave them till its time to sell, then give it a good over haul ....cbrs will always sell

Ill never sell it dave. I sometimes think about a bigger machine. Maybe a blade, a zx9r or a blackbird. But then I think whats the point? Ill just keep giving it a service and see how many years she lasts.
