Whats the best way to the Liverpool ferries then guys? Just along the 62 into scouseland? I dropped the missus off at John Lennon a couple of weeks ago and think I saw signs on the motorway for "car ferry" I presume I just follow those? Or is there another way?

Gonna need some advice as well from you non TT virgins as too were to watch and what time I need to be out of the digs and what not. All new to me.

Depends what kind of speeds you wanna see from your trip, i'll be watching:

    Bottom of Bray Hill (fast)
Quaterbridge (slower) - (most prob for Friday evening practice)
    Crosby pub (fast)
    Water Works (fast)
    Gooseneck (slower)
    Hillberry (fast)
    Signpost (slower)

Depending on if you plan of getting about the circuit with other newbies, i'd invest in a decent map of the island so you know which roads you can travel on to get to other parts of the circuit while the roads are closed. This can also help you plan a route to where your going to watch from.

Some places have hard standing for bikes, but i'd stick a puck in your leathers/under your seat in case there isnt enough room & you've got to park the bike on uneven/soft ground.

Also, check your phone provider .... some charge stupid money for texts, so you might need to get a cheap pay as you go phone from a shop over there.

Roads close an hour before the racing starts so depending where you wanna watch from, you've got to plan your time to get there & get a good watching spot.

If where your watching from is a popular place you can find burger bars, coffee shops, spar's etc. for food & drinks .... if your watching from Sulby Glen, watch from the inside the Church grounds side as the Church do lovely cakes !!
Failing that, take a bag & raid the Tesco's in the morning for snacks & drinks .... cheaper option as well !!

If your free for an hour or so on one of the days when there's no racing, then i'd take a trip over to Fairy Bridge & say hello to the Fairies. I went last time i was there & it's beautiful, said hello to them & had a safe holiday.

Am sure there's others that will help you out with where to watch as well & have their own hints & tips for your 1st time.

I have to say i found the Waterworks place to watch by accident, was watching from the Gooseneck & went for a walk down the hill & hey presto .... it is EXCELLENT & my fav place to watch as it's twisties on way up from Ramsey hairpin to the Gooseneck, fantastic place for really upclose action, as your just over the wall from them ..... this is a pic taken from there to show how close you really are !!

Love Hillbery really fast through there

+ 1 on fairies bridge another place worth going and often overlooked is the southern 100 course near castletown last year we had it to ourselfs every night nice an small but mucho fun :D know a really ace pub near there to few nice bends on it that are full speed :D an a long straight which my dad loved lolz

another good place is the grass green in Kirk Michael (need a puck though for ur sidestand always way soft the grass through there) think we are watching from there on the 4th as our place isnt to far out from there plus the grubs usally pretty good :D and comphy plastic seats to which are nice after the ferry journey

my first time going liverpool to mate always just gone heysham before so wondering the same thing to I was drivn the firms van few weeks back and seen lots of signs for the ferry port

deffo agree with Sarah on the phones Im buying a sure or a manx telecom sim before hand :D one of them has got an offer on where u top up 10 pounds and get free texts mobile internet and calls for 30 days not sure which one though lol

we noticed a pattern that pretty much every morning 8am ish last year there was an incident on the mountain so if we were watching from the creg or hillbery we got there a fair bit earlier lolz

5/6 am gets you a clearish run over the course but mostly we did it in the evening as everyones busy getting drunk or watching the stuff on the prom if your after the mountain can do a nice little loup over the coast road that takes you back to ramesy and the beggining of the mountain also nother top pub there burgers are lush

I've checked and o2 class it as Western Europe. So 11p a text and 36p a minute outbound to the U.K. Its 15p a minute to take in incoming call from the U.K. So i'll just send a text or get them to call me.

Will swap mobile numbers nearer the time and to be honest was going to suggest that. Might as well meet up for a few beers at some point? :drinks:

Never been to Liverpool so it's all new.....I'm quite ashamed to admit that :russian_roulette:

    Staying in Douglas.

Another question by the way.....Should I be covered by my fully comp insurance? I was thinking of ringing anyway just to check.

If your not sure about where to go for the ferry, i'd just follow all the other bikers that'll be heading into liverpool town centre at silly o'clock in the night/morning with tank bags & rucksacks that'll be getting the same ferry as you !!

As for which service provider to go with, i was looking on the Tesco mobile site & they're network is actually provided by O2 ... i didnt know this before anyone says ... didnt you know that
But looking at the charges .... they're not much more than what Vodafone will charge me, so going to look at the Islands own network in the next few days & if that's about the same, i'll stick with my phone but turn off e-mails as it charges a flipping fortune for internet !!

I'm staying in Douglas as well, so will be out on the prom most evenings ..... got to try & find the little chinese takeaway stall which was outside the last hotel i stayed at, was REALLY nice food, it's by the pub that i was drinking with the Dunlop team & cant remember for the life of me what the hotel & pub was called :banghead:

Failing that, i'll be found wondering around the paddock trying to get Guy Martin's toes to curl & a few more signatures for my leathers !!

Looks good, but I usually just turn off Data Roaming and that keeps the bill fairly reasonable. Depends how many mates you have got, last year mine cost me 6p and that was a wrong number :)

Let me know what nights you're out for drinkies, I can do Sunday 29th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th, unfortunately work commitments mean I am working either at night or early mornings the rest of the time but am pretty sure you'll all be out quite a bit:) I will be off work on the Monday 6th too so can join ya to watch races wherever that day :)
