Yes, it's still on. Meet at my house for 10:00, have a few brews and hit the road around 10:30. No route, no plans, no times, just a bimble on bikes
Weathers looking good to go from tatty heath area dry roads bit windy but it's Britain never get the perfect biking day ! First of many bike ride this coming year so get the gear on and let's all just ride Mann
did you get far guys ? I couldn't get to your "chapter Meet" for the leave time, so went up the coast towards Lytham, turned off towards Kirkham and then dropped onto the A6,on the edge of the Trough of Bowland at Garstang. Skirted the lower end of that and headed over the top of blackburn, Darwen and dropped in at Rivvy for a brew. Was around 7 or 8 bikes there. Took some back country lanes to get home the long way …temp was around 7 degrees. Very windy on the coast, but just breezy inland . Hope your ride went safe ,and you kept warm View attachment 873 View attachment 874
Dammit ! Took the bike out and popped by Rivvy but didn't stop off (saw the Cb1000R there) as the queues looked bad for brews - worse still my mate was there later ( red Hornet) but he'd said he wasn't coming out earlier, so I missed him - had a good ride before my non-heated grips took their toll - so back home and then a potter in the shed and cleaning up the bike - would be good to know which bikes you ride - Dave is the GS ?
Looks like you had a grand day Dave Our route as follows: From St Helens, Thatto Heath we took the Rainford Bypass and headed towards Preston along the A59 We took in Bickerstaffe, Lathom, Burscough, Prescot, Samlesbury, Barrow, Clitheroe, Waddington, Newton-in-Bowland, Slaidburn, Bentham (via Quiet Lane), and finally stopped in Ingleton for fuel. We returned via the A687/A683 taking in Burton in Lonsdale, Melling, Hornsby, Claughton and Caton before joining the M6 Southbound at junction 34 and whizzing home. All in about 180 miles Great riding home watching the sun drop, into the trees. Winter riding when it's not freezing is a pure joy Next week same thing maybe on Sunday but will comfirm closer to,date
im liking Ants Tenere…….where you went today in the trough, (prob Dunsop bridge area) is ideal for GS, Tenere etc .you did well getting that type of mileage in RESPECT….i was warm everywhere apart from me toes !!!
I was on ME jack jones at rivvy ….yeah that GSA is mine ..no idea who had the other bikes …the guy with the Triumphy Bonny pulled in seconds before me so i was chatting to him …i didn't recognise any others …yep the brew queue was out of the door with dog walkers and ramblers ...
@Soviet ……..Vctor Meldrew is giving a set of grips away FREE in another thread ….wash them first obviously
We left Smellens quite late (around 11:25) from MMC. It got dark quite quickly so we whizzed back on the M6 from junction 34. I'll edit Ant's post of our route and add to this thread (if I'm able with Google maps)
i know some top "adventure" type roads around north yorks, so when your kitted out with a GS , we can drag CJ out too and have a blast with you and Ant.
