Friday 19th September - Fireworks Championship

I don't know how many of you know about this, but a firework championship happens every year for in Blackpool - it started a week yesterday, and is on for the next two friday nights...

Does anyone fancy a run there? I went last night with my good lady, and as always it was a fantastic show, seriously world class display.

If there is interest and I have an idea of numbers I'll try and find a suitable place for us to stop with a decent view - it takes place off north pier, and as the illuminations are on the traffic can be harsh if you're in a car, but it's a perfect excuse to be on a bike and I saw quite a few there last night

This would be 100% inclusive of anyone on here... learners, pillions, first timers etc all totally more than welcome. I'd suggest meeting at Preston Docks around 19:00 (TBC once I know numbers), then we can head to blackpool.

If people want to get a bag of chips or something while we're there that will be easy enough as there are loads of takeaways nearby

Agreed - triffic display last night with bonus weather, some of those big airbursts were 'KINHUGE ....
Figured I'd get the push iron out last night, I'm only a couple of miles down the road and need the exercise, glad I did cos the prom were heaving ...

 

Their finale was unbelievable wasn't it, they literally filled the sky... tremendous

Same here I got lost getting to one of clarkeys meets riding round Preston was a nightmare if you don't know it

im going but im taking the kiddies and mrs and try as i might they just dont all tie wrap on the bike lol.
does anyone know the exact place thier doing fridays show i heard they are going to be staging it in different areas along the pier throughtout the fridays.

 

just seen the advert for the beach house package might do that if theres still space

 

One thing I've noticed with this is that Parking Wardens seem to be out in force, and one year in the past when I was on the bike one came up to me and started having a go. It is kind of frustrating, especially if you're just on a bike and parked considerately, but at the same time they do have hundreds of vehicles so I guess there has to be some kind of restrictions or it would be gridlocked!

I have found a good and legal place to park, but as this is a public forum I thought it probably best not to put it here as that might be a bit stupid...

Again - this ride is more for the destination, chat shit and watch Fireworks than a particularly thrilling ride, and it would be a perfect one for learners and pillions as it will be sedate
