NAh the thing is with anglesey theres only a limited number of power points in the padock so Ill get in there early and get hooked up, ring me and ill tell you where I am
Do I need tyre warmers??? Didn't think of that one. I'll try to get there as early as poss save me a place next to that sexy bike of yours! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Elliott, just turn up on your bike with Charles in the car. Get there around 8am if you can and spend a bit of time taking the indies/mirrors/number plate etc off and taping over your speedo. Get a brew, settle down and wait for the briefing. Just chill out, go into this with the mind set that you're gonna learn sh*t loads on the day and there will always be people who will go past you and probably a fair amount that you'll go past. If the worst comes to the worst, I'll have my double trailer with me and know enough about the SV's to help you fix anything lol
Firstly enjoy it, be a little nervous and respect the track that you choose to ride. Make sure you don't get the dreaded red mist, I have seen a lot of first timers come off and wreck their pride and joy. Anyway, Anglesey is a great track however it can be subject to adverse weather due to its location. The track is not as technical in my opinion as some others. You have the added bonus that I am sure by the time you get there you will have the pleasure of using the new pits. So advice, • Do not ride to and from the track, try an get a trailer or van, if you bin it you can get home and I can assure you the ride home after a full day on track will be horrendous. • Put together a simple tool box kit, this will enable you to make changes to the bike. • Lower your tyre pressures (varies by manufacturer). Most of all, relax, forget about what everyone is saying and have a great day. One warning, if you become addicted to TD's there is no going back. Cold turkey is not possible it's more of an addiction than a crack fox wh*re could ever have. Welcome to the TD massive, oh yes for TD dedicated advice join Trackdayriders.co.uk
Been thinking about staying over the night perhaps camping if anyone is interested? Have a great day on track then get smashed round a camp fire!!! I think im fairly relaxed about it now, was watching racing on the tele and because its new to me i got abit worried. I realise i wont be going fast. Ive made the mistake at 3 sisters of going for outright speed but as some mentioned i need to learn to be smoother through corners. So im going to take Anglesey as a learning day NOT as a raceday! Will either be going down and then camping over or getting a hotel and staying the night before. Its my birthday on the 7th so would like to make a nice weekend of it
I'm prob gonna stay over on the Sunday night and do both days mate? Plenty of camping space and I have my geny
Sounds mint mate. Will either stay for most of Monday as moral support or book that one too!!! Lol Looking forward to it now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
a track day isn't a race day. simples. no harm getting competitive with a few mates, or with yourself against the clock, but if you treat it like a race you will either bin in a bad way or get black flagged. especially as a newcomer. just enjoy it mate and take it from there
Sean I'm doing both days but I think the Monday will suit me better as there will be quite a few of my race buddies there.
you are right about the cross wind but its only on one part of the track and it isnt as bad as people make it out to be,its on the back straight just as u climb up the hill before the left hander, anglesey is an awsome track, dont listen to people fillin your head with shite just get it booked and find out for yourself,if you dont feel fully comfetable to start with remember the throttle does go both ways,by the end of the day you will be flying,
Dayo and Banksy gave me some great advice. They said take it really easy on the first session after lunch. Everyone has been talking to their mates and swapping stories and generally feeling a bit Rossi-like Then they go out on cold tyres and bin it! BTW, they were right, I saw a few riders do it.
See this is why I'm tempted to do both days. One day to learn the circuit and the second to improve on times etc Thanks for all the advice guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
After the first day you'll be that knackered you may not want to do the second day. Another word of advice - if you're feeling tired then get off the track. A few times I've got off the track mid way through the last session due to tiredness.
Book the first day. With a 2 dayer there is a good chance of getting a space for the second day if you put your name down as a reserve, if you feel up to it fine, if not or the weather's bad no problem you wont have spent anything.
