I'm taking someone out for the evening from the Sutton Heath area. And apart from the cafe at MMC which I don't think would go down well I don't know the area so an ideas ?

If you have the cash the mulberry tree up near standish is fantastic
Or a bit further on is the original farmers arms in eccleston (not the st helens eccleston lol). one of our favourites.
there are two on that road. make sure it the original. other one is ok but not as good.
Do all sorts on the specials menu. Gives you something to talk about as an ice breaker.

if you want to impress but not spend a fortune and there is a miller and carter close by then there's your answer.

if you don't get your leg over you will at least get a decent steak ;)

Wheatsheaf is pretty good for pub food.
Sandpiper on the way to Ormskirk looks impressive but food isn't that great.
If you've got transport, then try Quattros on the Rainford bypass (at the junction with M58).

Let us know where you took the lass, of you get a second date I'll let you know other places close by (I live on the Thatto Heath/Sutton Heath border).
