You just like being hugged from behind by other blokes, Daz. Naked, repeated hugs. With hug sweat dripping off their nose from the repeated, energetic hugging.

You're better of with Lister for those kind of hugs mate ;)

Sorry to hear about your off Elliott, and glad your not too badly hurt, it sound you have been lucky with your injurys, and unlucky with the crash and bike.

Hope you get well soon and heal fast

Elliot, firstly, sorry about your off. This isn't supposed to be a lecture, but please take this as advice, gained from hard won experience. I know this is easier said than done, but as soon as you saw this bell end, you've pointed out he was putting others at risk. At this point, alarm bells should ring and stay back, or like Martin says, when things are clear, get passed and put some distance between you and him. Remember, regardless of who's to blame, your going to come off worst. Case proven here, knobhead causes the crash, then drives off with you in the gutter.

Secondly, your talking about you'd recognise the driver. I've got a good working knowledge of the identity procedure so if you want to know what happens, drop me a PM.

(That said, the cock on his head should be a good identifying feature!)

I'm very sorry to hear about your off Elliot. There is genuinely some good advice here. You've learned this the hard way, but it's never a good idea to go and stay near any vehicle that looks to be irratic and unpredictable. That may mean staying back or getting past at the first opportunity, giving it a wide berth and getting away from it swiftly. No, you didn't cause the accident, but you could have avoided it by simply staying away from the vehicle altogether and/or leaving yourself much more space to react. It's clearly not worth doing otherwise simply to satisfy your curiosity.

I'm also sorry to say that I have had to moderate some of the posts in this thread. It doesn't matter how upset you are, or whether you don't appreciate the tone of some of the advice given; verbal abuse directed towards other members is not acceptable. I'd also suggest that you reconsider your demeanor in light of the fact that you're representing your business in your signature of every post, and abusive remarks are unlikely to do you any favors.

thing is rob / alex, in a situation like this, passing the car would probably be a bad move... pissed up driver in a stolen fast car... would probably see an overtaking bike as a bit of sport and go for the chase.
split second judgement takes over when you're moving... i did the same last year, overtook some cars i thought were driving unsafely, driving too close together, throwing litter & smoking weed at the wheel... result was i got a 14 day ban & a fine while they sailed past the plod.
the natural reaction when someone drives like a cock is to ride up and give them a piece of your mind (or a boot to the door) - obvioulsy this is an example of it going tits up.

if elliot wouldve been in a ford cargo truck or transit or something, then his actions wouldve been admirable, probably preventing the nob from causing a major crash or death.
on a bike it's probably not such a wise move lol.
bloody shame too with the work done on the bike... always the way, just when you get a bike how you waant it, thats when it happens!
2 pretty serious offs in a year elliot... you need to be carefull m8... not being patronising there bud - i had a spell when i wrote 4 bikes off in 2 years, at your age too.
i still get the raging bull when a driver pisses me off but learnt the hard way to take it on the chin.
respect to you for having a go like but fk sake m8 watch yerself!

That's certainly a possibility, and you can only call it as you see it on any particular occasion. Either way, staying directly behind the vehicle is pretty much always going to be the worst choice. As a rule, the safest course of action would always be to hold back, stop for 5 minutes or take a different route. But if you did decide you could definitely get past safely, then make the move and saw that the vehicle sped up or moved out of the traffic to pursue, you can always just take the next turn/pull over and take yourself back out of the equation.

Sorry guys this morning I was a state in massive pain and just generally a mess.
I'm taking the advice and it's defo not going to be repeated.

Thanks to all that have wished me the best. Just need to sort myself out. I think I'm going back to hospital as they didn't X-ray my back and my lower back is in crippling pain.

sorry to hear about your off matey gws

i completely get where your coming from the urge sometimes to compete with cars especially sports cars is easy to get carried away with in the heat of the moment only you know what happend so dont worry to much what people say about you they are only commenting on what you have posted and drawn a few conclusions when i 1st read it i to thought why is he bothering about a d*ck in a car speeding ?

theres one lesson i have learned for my years of biking.............

a 600 will beat nealy every car on the road but if like me you dont have the ability to ride like rossi

just wait til the next set of lights and filter past the b*st*rd

also without trying to sound condescending i (like many others on the forum) have been doing the iam course, and reckon my road riding has improved hugely (especially observations). im not making any assumptions here, but if you (or anyone) are interested in upping their skills then please speak to rob j or dave (winkmaster). honestly, its one of the best things ive done in 16yrs of road riding.

    Elliot,

Glad you're all right and glad things have settled down. I'm an old git (48) and I learnt very early in life that if life can throw a spanner in the works, it will. That applies to all aspects of life, not just riding.

My view on the world is:-
The majority of the population are idiots or not paying attention and the next biggest group are dangerous or incompetent. That only leaves a small minority that actually have the brains to behave safely and mean me no harm. I treat everyone i meet politely but with caution cos i can't rely on them for anything.

I treat every blind bend as if its got a loose road surface and a broken down combine harvester at its apex and every unknown road user as a risk.

This may sound a bit OTT or pessimistic but it' kept me safe.

I hope you get well soon and that you get yourself back in the saddle.
