Off topic/bike repair-ish So tonight I'm riding down to my local postie. So I pull out of the junction hit 2nd and bang it into 3rd when when *bam* I loose all power to the wheel and somthing has hit my leg, I stop thinking feck the gearbox just shat it's self all over me , but no engine light came on or anything I move down to the rear wheel and the chain is missing....I go look up the street and there I find my chain, with this. link just a few yards up the road. Can you guess what link that is? very good it's the split link....
HA GOT YOU! I do yes, it was within Tolerance. I said I would maintain this bike and I do.The oil get's cheeked every week as well as chain, sprockets ,brakes , clutch, coolant , tyre treads. I knew the chain was getting a bit low and was due to be booked in before I start work.(I don't have a paddock stand and can not adjust chain)
hence it prob being too slack ( its snap easier when its to tight though) get yourself a stand to lift the rear up ,and in all honesty you dont need one of them to do that ,but its the easier way…must be something in the Air up your way ……your on nearly every week with a problem, its like …...Coronathan street !
I'm starting to think I was never meant to have bikes and this is some sort of vengeful god telling me so. I could see that, Next week on CoroNathan Street Will Nathan's front fork seal explode as he turns the bike on tune it next week to find out! and to make it all much more worse MY WHITE SHINY TANK HAS BLACK CHAIN OIL ALL OVER IT!!
Anyway I'm up in Lancaster tomorrow so I'll grab a new spilt link while I'm up there. and when I get back I'll order a DID-HD chain.
You dont need a paddock stand to adjust a chain mate. Makes it easier to look for tight spots but I never set the slack on a stand. At least it hasnt damaged the bike. Learn to maintain a chain and you will save a fortune over the years.
Yeah, it's an easy repair looked at the sprockets there all good hasn't ripped the HUB off like my last bike did. Spec is 30-40MM mine was around 35-37ISH MM so it wasn't to bad but did need to go in (I thought I could get away with it for at least 2 more days while I finshe my training up)
You never saw that one? My chain slipped off and the split link did not fail so the chain locked the wheel and fucked the HUB.
im confused??? Nathan says "Yeah, it's an easy repair looked at the sprockets there all good has ripped the HUB off like my last bike did."?
This is what happens when you mix fast typing with a brain that's 2 words ahead of it's self and don't read it back to see if it makes sense. If the Yamaha had done this that would be it, game over I'm giving up on life and getting a people carrier.
