Really missing my bike, people, fish and chips and fishing weirdly enough. I used to go just off the cliffs at St.Mary's point in Aberdarron, fantastic location (weather permitting) excellent sea depth straight from the cliff edge, albeit you have a bit of a clamber down to a better vantage point. So my idea is this-anyone fancy a ride that way with some basic sea gear, telescopic rods etc, catch whatever is passing, probably disposable BBQ it badly, lose some cheap rigs and drink some non alcoholic tins before popping back into the village to wash off the smell and eat some properly cooked grub then home? Thinking the weekend I'm back, 3rd or 4th August
im liking the sound of this... but im also missing my bike and my sea rod was stolen about 18 years ago when I lived at Flamborough head
got loads of rods used to go off red wharf bay etc in anglessy, off the jetty at morcambe and lots of times in torquay,n paignton. haven't been for a while but have just bought 5 new telescopic rods 3 reels and a fly rod n reel.
I go fishing, I've got boat gear but haven't been for a couple of years. My shore stuff consists of 2 Ron Thompson Axcellerator's with 2 Abu 7000i reels that I've converted into long distance cast reels. I bought my youngest lad his 1st beachcaster at Christmas and I've been having fun teaching him how to fish, cast, making rigs ect. I usually fish the Mersey in the winter, then Wales or the East coast in summer. I finish work next week for 3 weeks, me and the boy will be wetting our lines at some point. If anyone fancies a trip,pm me a number, I will get in touch if your free your more than welcome to join us
My shed is literd with various outboards, rods reels.set up's,Father used to take me fishing. would of loved to have gone if I was local.
Only from a boat ..... hand lining in the Moray Firth last time I went .. got that was 18 years ago ..doesnt time bloody fly by
Yep.... Spent most of my life on boats sea fishing in canearfon bay and further. My dad has always had boats, still get out but not as often. Spent best times wrecck fishing in st georges channel, pulling up 30lb cod like there going out of fashion, then pop into dublin for a guiness or too. Great times! yeah should be good, like I said not been fishing in years so... probably don't even remember how and when I did it was normally just a mess about, never actually caught anything
I might be on this if I have no plans on the date your thinking of going and if I haven't thrown the telescopic rod out
I've always wanted to go fishing but my Dad was never into it neither are any of my friends! Haha I'd be up for the trip and a bit of learning if you'll have me!
I had a few Mackrel from the rocks at Benlech only the other weekend. My brother has lived there for 13 years and still has not found someone who can lend us a small boat for a day to just get that bit further than rock fishing.................and Im too tight to buy one lol. I would be up for a 4hr or 8hr boat trip from Conwy or somewhere down there, if someone wants to organise one. We could ride down, do a bit of fishing (hire rods) and ride back. (waits for the organising chappies to arrive with a cost and date lol)
Sounds good to me, a lovely place and great roads especially if you go via llanberis. Can I borrow a rod, I cant fit mine on a bike. What do you get off there? The next weekend i can manage won't be until the 17th though.
Funny you should say that Topper Boat hire from Colwyn Bay is about £20/30 each for a day (max) including boat rods and bait Be easier than making sure everyone and a telescopic and easier to ride down then. Who else would be up for a boat day instead of off the cliffs? I have family on Anglesea too, bit run down now I be honest and most charters have gone but Colwyn is still thriving.
