A teaser as to the direction i am taking the paint job, still a lot to do before its done but you can see the colours :lol:

the hard work starts now for the painters tbh i have some very trick finishes i want.

cant wait to park it at the scotch lol lets hope i get it back before the nights draw in, hold on i dont think seeing it will be a problem lol

Ok let me fill everyone in to where i am at and why this is taking longer than expected,

Firstly a new front wheel arrived and it was damaged so had to back and now we are waiting on one from yamaha which clearly takes fookin ages :banghead: the wheels are being painted and pin striped so when it does arrive it has to be preeped and painted.

Besides the above the paint is somthing a little different so is holding up the job as well, all of the black on the bike is being matt finished and all off the white/yellow is high gloss, so, a full high gloss is applied to the whole bike and then a pian stacking task of masking out every little bit of the bike that has to stay glossed which is a nightmare (so i am told).

then the matt laquer is applied and allowed to dry then the masking is removed, now because the guy spraying it is a legend in the paint world and wont let anything go out without being spot on he is applying excessive gloss laquer to minimise any level differences to the finish so after the masking has been removed if he is not happy it all gets laquered again and the same perocess occurs.

Ultimately it will be worth it, he has been doing road race reps for 20 years and bespoke paint and never done a job like this before or seen one that goes to this detail so he loves it, the knock on is it takes ages.

Anyhow hoping now with the latest delay that the bike will be back early next week.

Some pics of the job at its latest point, you can see the matt against the gloss , its more about the in the flesh look than on film - the only decal is the R6 the rest is all paint

 

fair play that is going to a very nice bike when its done
