Chain and sprockets

  1. I use a impact gun to take the from sprocket nut off and a length of 4" by 2" through the wheel trapped against the swing arm to torque it up.

  2. oh and take your time when riveting the new link. If your chain riveter is not aligned right you won't peen over the rivet link evenly and you risk it failing on you.

Well i went out and bought a genuine honda sprocket and chain set today, set me back £90 but at least i know it isnt going to stretch like a bastard. Had my 18 month old carry it home for me as well, not sure if that means i'm the worlds best father for getting her involved or the worlds worst for making her do all the work

Made a start on the yzf chain and sprockets today before i do the hondas. The tip from @lee about untightening the front sprocket before removing the chain made it the easiest change over yet! All went smoothly apart from the final 2 minutes where, as was said, the cheap £6 chain breaker gave up and the pin sheared, thankfully i'd just finished! [IMG] [IMG]

    Nice one pete.
The two bolt design on your front sprocket makes things easier too.
Wait till your doing one with a big single nut. Great fun!

    Glad it went well.

did mine today, single sided swingarm so didint have to take the rear wheel off.
went pretty well, had to stand on the rear brake to get the front sprocket nut undone but other than that it was fairly straightforward.

Gave the chain a really close inspection today, and much to my surprise, hidden on the inside of the chain, was a second master link. Although this second was quite clearly bodged, and the link was quite a bit smaller than the other links surrounding it. The sooner the riviting tool comes the better.
