Ok for sum unknown reason my bike is running rich, and with her having 4 carbs the possability of me setting them with out correct tools.

So my plan is to strip and clean the carbs and send her in for carb setup what sort of price range am I looking at?

Speak to Bolton Motorcycle Workshop. For what it'd cost you in postage and paying for a remote set-up I wouldn't be surprised if Russ would do the whole thing for you. Also my understanding is that carbs need to be balanced whilst fitted to the engine, although I might be completely wrong on that!

When I balanced mine the engine was running to get the correct tweaking needed

Balancing the carbs is far easier than stripping and cleaning them.
    i did them on mine.
Hardest part is getting the plugs off the test points. and getting the vac gauge hoses on the same.

I dnt have the vac gauge I know its runnin rich wether I just adjust the mixture screw and turn all 4 to lean it out. I'm thinking as I'm powder coating the frame and engine will be out for a few week should I get the carbs done before I take the engine out as I know if the engine is dormant for a while carbs may need doing anyway

Iirc you cant adjust all 4.
One is the base setting. you adjust the other three to suit.
if the mixture is way off then may be an issue with not enough air.
    Or maybe its been re-jetted?
The best way is to bang it on a dyno and get them to check the a/f ratio.

£150 2 places quoted so I bought a guitar string for £1.50 as seen on you tube all mix screws were 3 n a half out set all to 2. Now to put back

How did you know it was too rich?
How will you know its now ok?
Running too lean is not a good idea.

You can mixture adjust on all carbs, it is balancing with only 1 fixed, all others set to that one with the gauges.
Slide carbs can be initially balanced off the bike but not easy on CV type. All need fine tuning on the running warm engine.
Mixture adjustment would be simplest with either a mixture analyser if there are take off points on the exhausts. Otherwise easiest if you can get hold of a colourtune kit - allows you to see the colour of the burn while engine is running but probably almost impossible to fit to most modern engines and see the lens.

Soot all over back of exhaust, loud popping from exhaust, I cleaned the carbs, butterflies were out of sync so balanced it did fuel mixture screws put back together bike is sharper no popping took it out came back and green fluids dripping so I've forgot to connect one of the coolant pipes lol

On myth to dispel for a start, there is not a carb that is fixed for balancing they are all adjustable.
The base setting is all the butterflys closed when the throttle is off. Make sure all the mixture screws are set equally.
Then you set your tickover (this opens the butterflys a bit). To balance, the tickover should be when the engine is running smoothest below 2k if poss
Then you balance the carbs by adjusting the butterflys so that the engine is pulling the same vacuum through each carb, you may need to keep adjusting the tickover as you go.Ballance all the carbs at the same revs!

Readjust the tickover down to normal. Now you can adjust the mixture.

On the cbr the base carb Is no.3.
There are 3 adjustment screws and from what I can remember when doing mine you adjust them as pairs.
Match 4 to 3, match 1 to 2, then the centre screw matches both 1 and 2 to 3 and 4. None of the screws adjust no.3 carb.

mine was 3 carb by the big adjuster then 4 then 2 then 1 mixture screw 2 turns out all back together 6000 rpm lol turn revs down pissing green blood fuck damn forgot to put cooler pipe back on back apart back together vroom vroom feels far better and no loud backfire popping noise when i let throotle retract back

and yet all this would of cost £150 + vat at a garage

    my cost £1.50 guitar string
    £4.99 coolant (my own fault)

time 6 hours but i recon i could do it in 2hours now i know

There's like a small indentation in the carb the string fits perfect when u adjust so it just grabs string

    Just seen it.
So you have used the string as a rough way to balance the carbs in place of a manometer.
But how did you set / adjust the mixture???
