NED revin the hell out of it while i still can

been havin probs with me bike for a few weeks..i think the injectors are clogged but i want to be sure before i rip them out and send them off for flow test and sonic cleaning...
it started with a flat spot at 4 thou . then it started to idle slow and then cut out . i turned the idle screw a bit and it was ok for a day .now it wont idle unless i hold the throttle slightly open or turn the idle screw all the way. i have checked and replaced any suspect vac hoses with no joy.i have swaped the map sensor and checked the plugs and coils and they seem fine. i have had the fuel filter off an it flows in both directions with no restriction ,also the fuel pump is in good order and puts out a constant 40 psi. cos its a turbo conversion the fuel regulator
raises pressure in the fuel rail when it gets a boost signal .{this provides fuel enrichment when making boost} this also works as it should and i have seen up to 100 psi fuel pressure...normaly when the regulator sees boost at idle the engine stalls cos of the massive over fueling, this has stopped...has anyone heard if injectors fyucking up? can they fail ?....oh ...i have done a full diagnostic with the ecu and no fault codes or errors are showing

I'm no mechanic, but have you checked for any air leaks?

yeah ...had the throttle bodies off twice and made sure there are no leaks gaps or anything that might cause it to stall. just hoping someone might have had similar probs with injectors to confirm my suspicions

back to the dyno tbh m8 before you start messing with fuelling....
not as if it's a standard piece of kit lol!

i suppose 30 seconds on the dyno would tell us if its runnin lean and if it is then it has to be the injectors

with the mods you've done, id imagine the air/fuel mix is critical.... you could melt valves in seconds, so might be worth adding something like this to the dash

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KOSO-Narrow-band-Air-Fuel-Ratio-Meter-Gauge-12-1-16-8-range-includes-O2-sensor-/260977266608?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc3750fb0

i was bidding on a similar one a while back but as usual got outbid in the last 1/2 second :S

i have thought of gettin a wideband kit in the past....wish i had now...narrowband is a bit useless. you only get a good reading at idle..ok for tuning carbs

they do a wideband kit for a bit more £

the one i was bidding on was a simple led display but id prefer summat more accurate...
got to be worth a go - if it saves half a day on the dyno it's paid for itself ;)

or you can get just the display pod and get that to read your existing lambda sensor? be a lot cheaper that way

seen em on ebay for like £40

there is no lambda on mine.thats why the fuel enrichment is mechanical with the regulator. if there was a lambda it would self tune...just seen on ebay the same company do a wideband for 200 quid

id say its an essential piece of kit with your set up then bud...

that one i was bidding on was a lumenition jobby - they pop up now & then :)

maybe you could nick a lambda sensor off a car down the scrappy???

Give Pete a ring from OTC racing he has a dyno and ultrasonic cleaning stuff as well.

Not always the case mate, the lambda sensor can't react quick enough to adjust the fueling in time, I always stand by the fact you'll never beat a bespoke fueling map for your bike.Does the bike run ok on throttle? If its just on idle it could be a fault with the idle jets mate.

it stumbles and stutters at low revs..also detonates on very low boost..it has had a custom map done in january and the fueling was spot on .this usue has only appeared in the last two weeks...there arent any idle jets are there? its efi

Ah sorry my bad, didn't read your post properly :(
could be a duff injector in that case mate, as previously suggested a trip to the dyno should tell you what's going on.
Apart from that mate I'm outa ideas, unless your bike uses some kind of control valve to run at idle?

its also very possible that youve sucked in a shitload of flies and your air filter is clogged up to fk, making the mixture artificially over-rich.
id imagine as you are running an external air cleaner that it'd ming up a lot quicker than the oem airbox under the tank ;)

+1 not sure what yr your R1 is, but I did see one with a duff coolant temp sensor, it was telling the ecu the bike was constantly cold and in turn loads of fuel was getting thrown in, I think that was on an '05 but that wouldn't idle and kept cutting out ect.

fek me .!!!!! didnt even think of the air filter

its deffo not the air filter cos i ran it with the air intake disconected and there was no change

I'm sure if it was a faulty injector it would throw a light or a fault code up?
You said in the op that at idle on boost the regulator throws fuel in and the engine dies because of massive over fueling now this has stopped you say?
I'd be tempted to have a check of the regulator mate, I reckon it's starving the bike of fuel at idle.

i changed the injectors today and there is no change...the regulator is workin fine..i have an inline pressure gauge and i can raise or lower pressure manually..when the reg sees boost [ by blowing with me gob ] the fuel pressure rises at a rate of 8 psi in the fuel rail to 1 psi of boost as it should..cant understand how there can be nearly 100 psi in the rail and it have no effect on idle....goin to change the fuel lines and filter tomorow.
