R125 has been sitting in a garage for about a month now and not been started...

Somebody coming to buy it tomorrow, kinda worried it won't start haha

It isn't insured so I can't take it out for a ride, how long should I let it idle to get a decent amount of charge in it?

I don't have a charger so I'm thinking to just let it run for a while & get the alternator to charge the battery if I have to bump it. I'm guessing about 20 minutes will do it?

I just don't wanna look like a twat tomorrow if it doesn't start haha

Always make sure you start it before they come, just let it run for 20 mins like you said.

Maybe start it about an hour before they come.

The bike on Idle won't produce much in the way of elecy. It'll still charge, but only slowly.

You'll want to get to around 3-4k to efficiently charge the battery and get some go go juice through the engine.

To be honest with you though, I once left Bee standing for around 5 months, came back to her and she started up perfectly fine... A month won't really do anything bad for the battery, unless you have an alarm.

a lot of buyers will be wary of a bike thats presented with warm engine.....
they may want to see it start up cold, and listen for noises.

can you not borrow a charger off someone?
ive got one you can use.... or just go argos and get one for a tenner.

Yup, as Martin says, don't start it just before they're about to arrive. It can draw suspicions ;)

I'll go round tonight and see if she starts.

If not I'll find a way to charge overnight.

In uni until 5 and then he is coming at 5:30 haha

For your peace of mind, you could always start it, then instantly turn it off. Just to prove it has enough juice to turn over.

It'll work, though. Trust your bike!

If its been standing for a month I would be expecting the battery to be a bit flat. Get it charged then you don't have any embarrassing situations. You only get one chance to make a first impression

I know this is too late to help, but MCO (Orrell ) have got the Optimate anniversary model for £30. This is about half price, so even if its no good for this bike, its well worth buying.

Worst comes to worst, you could always get a guy with a van to take you to a car part/private property so you can give the bike a good warm up and run?

Adam took the bike to/from uni as he's insured to ride it. 30 mile trip and she started first time, sale took 5 minutes :D

I've got Third Party Extension on my policy,

Can ride any ones bike with their permission as long as its not owned, leased or hired to me.
The other bike does not need to be insured either, this is a common mistake. As CIE law falls under registered keeper, not me. I work for insurance so know me stuff like haha :) Didnt mind helpin day out

Its like a car policy only insured as long as the car or bike is insured by the owner not just the rider

why does the bike have to be insured by the owner

Yes any motor vehicle that you can drive under a 3rd party policy has to be insured so if if want me to use your bike and its not insured by you I am not insured by my policy and vice versa
