section 3-57 in the manual i posted m8.

they refer to the big end as 'the big end' lol..... you also need to inspect the main bearing (shells) as its more than likely these that are causing your problem.

NED revin the hell out of it while i still can

me and a pal stripped a gixer750 that had a big end knock..you need to catch it early or the crank will be fooked. ours looked ok but when we put a micrometer on it it was oval.we thought of getting it milled but then there where no shells that would fit the under sized crank..we were lookin at 400 quid for a new crank and shells..and an ebay one would probably only last weeks as the crank was a well known weak point.if your dead lucky throw shells in it ,otherwise bin the motor and get one complete off ebay..good luck buddy..

look really carefully and check theres not another bolt youve mised - then it will be held on dowels.
best way to split them imo is with a kettle of hot water and a good crack with a mallet.
dont be tempted to pry them apart!

spent all night working on a suzuki gearbok one night, 4am im still at it.
got the casings together, went to fit the piston.... ffs forgot to put the crank in lol!!! :/

it was there looking at me lol. decided i was tired.
lost count the number of times that motor was apart.
first time you strip a motor its a bit daunting but you get used to it lol, at least you will understand it all.
dont forget threadlock when you reassemble, and blue hylomar on the casings.

it gets worse than that.
i stripped it all again, fitted the crank this time... put it all together,
by this time me mates were all revving up ready to go outside.
got the engine back in the bike, lid on leathers on.....

got 1 mile and seized the fker solid, oil everywhere.

i'd left the fkin oil feed pipe off the pump

managed to save it like but fkinell, bad fail.
was in the days before digital cameras that which is why its wise to take lots of pics as you disassemble stuff.
very important to have a clean uncluttered workspace so you dont lose stuff and find it when its back together. like cranks lol!

Haha that is an awesome little story, stripping/rebuilding engines is definately something to take your time with. Simple mistakes can (evidently) cause big problems lol.

Btw VVTR im getting the vibe that you're some sort of fitter / mech engineer haha

This reminded me of a few fitters ive worked with on shift ...
Are you of the good old 'shear it then back it out half a turn' mindset ;)
