Very nice choice. Like the colourscheme too. Whats the difference between the r, factory and fighter models?

The Tuono Fighter is the original 2003-2005 shape model, based on the RSV Mille:

I think there were limited edition R and Factory models of that shape, but I'm not sure on the details.

The Tuono 1000R was launched in 2006 and is based on the newer RSV-R:

That's the model I've bought. It's more or less identical to the RSV-R but for a rear shock with less adjustment, no top/side fairing and high bars.

The Tuono 1000R Factory is the tarted up version with Ohlins suspension and lighter wheels, based on the RSV-R Factory (and is about 2.5k more expensive on list price over the standard 1000R):

They haven't manufactured the Factory model now since 2007 and the standard Tuono since 2008/9, though they still have some unregistered to sell (like the one I picked up). The new V4 Tuono (based on the RSV4) will be launched next year, but apparently it'll be 10k+ for the standard model, probably more.

Pretty sure that's a mock up btw. They haven't released official photos yet.

The Factory is easily distinguisable by the gold frame, one of them either love it or hate it coulours  , and has a load of carbon fibre bits as standard.. Are you sure they weren't made after 2007? My 08 has the red/white lion paint job with gold wheels (previously blue) which is as the pictures in the Aprilia 2008 brochure. They also did a newer paint job like this http://www.apriliausa.com/en-US/Model/2 ... rview.aspx which I thought was the 09/10 model, I thought these were made until they ceased production earlier this year? :S :S

Fortunately, as the indicators are integrated into the tail fairing, after market tail tidys are pretty cheap for the Aprilia (30). It's just a bracket. Even so, I'm a tight git, so on Rod's recommendation, I just chopped the original down at the bottom and mounted the plate higher, which has done exactly the same job as an aftermarket tail tidy.

But I also fancied one of those vinyl sticker plates for a while, and it was only a fiver to have one made up. So if I feel brave enough, I'll take the normal bracket/plate off (it's just held in by 4 bolts) and just leave the tiny vinyl plate. It's an almost certain 60 fine if the plod stop me.

Gear it. -1 front +1 rear. My dad done it to his and it made it so much better when bombing around town. It was previously always between either1/2 or 2/3.
