while browsing for your torque specs, the general internet consensus says the ultima light was just the name given to the first few years of the ally framed ones before they moved to the f4i with no major differences from the f4 apart from stickers and frame. i cant find any mention of extra bhp .

torque is where its at either way matey...to the point where i'm now concerned id be bored with an il4 after riding the MT so long. even though i only have 46bhp i stil get 41.5ft.lbs @ 5500 as opposed to the 42ish ft.lbs @ 10000 based on the f4i dyno graph i stumbled across for example. i dont want anything with less mid-range power so im stumped what to get next haha. twist the throttle and my arms rip off straight away rather than a gentle build up. id hate to lose that.

everything fun with il4's is almost always at a point in the rev range where you’ll rarely hit it road riding or on 3 sisters. have a look at some dyno graphs to compare bikes for something with more in the low and mid range, then just go out and buy a mille or vtr

    Yup.
The f4 was the first ally framed cbr so they stuck "ultima light" on the tail. Think they dropped it when they went to the injected f4i.

As a few have said, if you ultimately want a tuono try a mille first, basically the same bike but you can pick up a mille cheaper then convert it to a tuono if you so desire

Definately have a test ride on a Firestorm. It has a massive difference in feel to the CBR. When I got my GSXR 1000 I thought the VTR would feel slow when I got back on it, but it doesn't. It has massive torque and the perfect amount of power for the road IMHO. Figures don't tell the whole story :)

thanks guys a lot to think about there over the winter .the vtr is a bike i keep coming back to over again .seems to have what im looking for.i test rode the rc8 which is "similar" to the vtr being a v and up over 1000cc and i loved it the power feed was continuous right through but didnt rip my arms off in the process pottering around in traffic was a doddle sitting in third the whole time .but out of my finance range at the moment .i dont intend to get rid of the cbr as she is a awesome bike to ride but i have a little lady that has her eye on it for next year when she does her test.so a bit more thought and a few test rides over the winter me thinks

I throw the SV1000 in the mix too, along with the TL1000.

Vtr,s guzzle juice and chains, the Sp1 bit of an animal and the Sp2 more refined with extra poke. Sad we haven't got Benny with us , He was your man on Honda v twins. Think it really depends on what your using it for. Your Cbr is a do it all type of Bike. Nearest equivalent i can think of is a K6 Gixer 1000. I like to do 3 sis (tight/twisty) oulton (fast/flowing), Tour with missus and tank bag and throwovers, General runabout. Idiotproof Bike! Old Steelie ticks ALL the boxes for Me. Pity their isn't a Modern Equivalent. Get your missus an f2, you know she wants it,ha.
