I am looking at doing a few mods on my ZX6R 2001,has anyone got any dimensional drawings or do the following: Remove the existing swing arm and replace it with a swing arm from a 2005 bike. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kawasaki-ZX6R-636 ... 483b80b4c4 I am also looking to try and polish the outer edges of my wheels, anyone got any ideas on how it looks after completed and will they need coating with laquer after they are done. I have ordered a single seat conversion for it, just waiting for it to arrive. The plan: Single seat conversion and undertray. Swing arm mod (if possible). Polished rims (outer edges only). Replace mirrors. Braided hoses. Full service. What do you think?
My thinking behind it is based on the construction of it, as its arched it should be stiffer. I am not sure if it will fit, thats why I am after either drawings or someone who has done it. If not I am watching an Ohlins rear shock at the mo might go for that instead and just get the existing arm repainted. Should be nice once sorted during winter
yes they fit if you use the 05 wheel so no messing with wheel spacers etc you need longer chain and longer brake line but not to bad to do. done a couple look mint when done and bit more stable at speed but wheel base is longer so turn in is slower
If you polish the outer lip on the wheel you'll need to keep polishing it. Lacquering polished metal IMHO looks crap. Buy some Autosol and give the old girl half an hour every weekend to polish and then wax the bare metal.
re the swing arm, id be tempted to just go for the ohlins and a trip to kais, maybe a damper on the front? better still keep it standard and trade it in for the the 10  nobody wants to buy modded bikes imo, so if you start altering it you're stuck with it.
Gonna ditch the rear arm idea as it starts to get costly, gonna spend the money on new springs and internals for the front end and a setup from Kais. Polished edges will look good, with a green centre. Not sure if I can be arsed polishing them every weekend. Might just re spray them instead.
dont even think about ohlins before you see andy at kais they do there own internals almost same as ohlins and thats only if you need them set up is about 40 qud ride in ride out will set your static sag etc etc then bet you dont even need front springs etc
i reckon you're right - plenty of guys track these bikes straight out of the crate. get it set up proper and it'll be a different animal  best way to make it quicker is to get it handling right, you'll piss on standard bikes in the twisties
Gonna tray and get the bike into Kais-suspension to get the bike feeling how it should, hopefully I will be able to get it in this week. You never know
where is this kais suspension and when are you going? i wouldnt mind getting mine set up i think the rear shock is goosed, it is 14 yr old tho. also are you still planning on going to that dyno place i need to do that too.
kais is here m8 http://www.kais-performance.com/ a mere stonesthrow away  they have a dyno there as well i use this guy cos he's shit hot http://www.junction-33.com/ and cheap! let us know when you're planning on a trip up there & i might bob along for the ride
cheers pal will try and get up on a decent day be good to get it running sweet i think its a little down on power, its a bit of a motorway trek but could make a ride out of it on the way back. might sort the suspension first only in atherton could be a different bike with those 2 jobs done.
I was thinking of getting my bike to Kais this coming Thursday, ready for Fridays shanigans. What do you reackon?
