Right I think its gonna be the output shaft bearing but its a bit weird the way it shows its self so thought I'd ask here. I'm getting a rythmic clunk under load, not all the time and it seems to go after a while, seems to be worse going round left handers too although that might just be the noise bouncing off the road. Can't find the problem when its on the stand and can't locate it when I'm riding either :-s
Tried putting it on a paddock stand and letting out the clutch in first gear? Is your chain properly adjusted?
Yeah the chain is fine and yep can't find the noise when its on the stand needs to be under load That's kinda why I'm thinking it'd be the ouput shaft bearing, its the only thing that I can think would be causing it
Doesn't seem to be related to the motor, seems to be at low rpm of the rear wheel/chain/ouput after that I assume the sound is still there but just blending in or drowned out by the engine
Alright pal, Not sure if you have sorted this out yet but I had the same issue with my ZX-6R J2, basically I changed the chain, front and rear sprocket and the sound went. How long has your chain been on the bike for? If it is the output bearing which can be checked by taking the cover of the front sprocket and see if there is movement on the shaft itself.
Mine turned out to be a brake pad that was shifting a little inside the caliper, it'd clunk as it touched the disk then stop when it'd backed off.
