i always wanted a z250 kork ballington special in lime green but being on the rock n roll it was a dream
My first legal road bike was a Honda C50 which took me all over the place at 16. I swapped that for an AR50 then moved up to an RS100 and then an MB50 with a H100 engine before getting to an AR125 and passing my test. I then got banned. All this in the space of 18 months. I returned on the RD350LC
I had been riding bikes for 20 odd years before there was ever a photo of me near a bike. Even now after 30 years there are only a few..
A mate of mine had an MB50 with the 100 cc conversion, we used to take it off road...even rode over one mates younger brother who squealed like a pig, until we offered him a ride so that he'd shut up! I had an MBX and did all sorts of sulking things like drilling the piston skirts etc Glory days! What I'd give to go back for a day!!!
Nice one Baldrick Lost all my early photos ( think my ex wife burned 'em out of spite ) . but this was my second bike ............. 1981 Z250A ( actual bike bought new by me Sept, '81...... had to buy the Scorpion badges separate lol !! ) Picture was taken a few tears back after a bit of restoration work by my mate Brian who bought it off me in around 1985 Had one of these for my first bike Mine was same colour , 1977 - 'R' reg bought from a mate in 1980 Baz
I loved my Z250, that bike took me all over the UK, I commuted to college in Greenhithe (Kent) on it, used to ride it down on a Sunday evening and ride it back to Manchester the following Friday for the weekend at home. It never let me down once, and I've been hooked on Zeds ever since. I've had many different bikes, but always seem to end up back on a Z.
Just had to join in on this one . Took me a few hours to dog out the old photo's though but had fun looking at them too..lol First bike was the good old MTX125. Took me to work and back till I past my test. Not always on legal routes mind you. Railway track was much quicker route to the pit..lol Second was the Z1000J loved that beast till she tried to burn me up on the motorway one stormy night on way to my mums.
Oh aye those were the days, early to mid 80's, ride down to the bikers pub in Rotherham, pissed, stoned then ride to the next pub, every last one of us thought we'd either live forever or just didn't give a shit either way. Fun times. Then I got married and had kids and cut my hair off. Oh the shame of it...lmao
that look pretty cool tom, would of loved one back in the day.against my yamaha fs1e it looks fantastic.
I had one on a 'P' reg when I was 16 (1986) I used to do my paper round on it, in school uniform, with no lid! I'm sure that cable operated disc was only there for decoration, if you wanted to stop, the rear drum was the only option!
